Going green is not a new concept but trying to eliminate disposable diapers from our landfills, is and has been a challenge. We, as a human species, may not be-able to in the next 20 years but we can sure try! There are many new green diapers on the market today but we can only think of one particular type of diaper, bamboo diapers. These are a little more pricey but are biodegradable. (Sorry, we do not remember the maker of the diaper.) The other diaper is not disposable but reuseable. That diaper is the cloth diaper. Yes, the cotton cloth diaper from 1930's to 1990's or so! This diaper is still in use but not like it was. The other is more of a concept of how our Grandparents or Great-grandparents mastered infants and "potty training" pre-1930's. This short video of 6 10 minutes will explain that very concept of how our Grandparents, Great-grandparents and Great-Great-grandparents coped with "potty training" before the disposal diaper came along.

Today we're learning about something called Elimination Communication. Maybe you've heard of it before, or maybe you even used it with your own kids, but if it sounds new and wacky I'm here to give you the facts. I wanted to share how and why going diaper-free with our kids was the right choice for us. After the video, maybe you'll consider it, too!

Hmmm...

Not a bad idea to have fish farms because of the high demand for various species of fish and the pollution that is contaminating our waters. Creating more jobs is good! There is one "little" question/concern. The concern would be, the genetic manipulation of the growth hormone that is being altered for production to meet demands of the fish. Yes, in order to meet the demands of particular fish, something has to change without massively over fishing particular fish species. We understand this and the importance of finding new ways to meet said demand.

When we, as humans, start to alter the genes of something. What would be the implications of this? How will this gene altering affect humans over the long run? Will we grow faster as children? How will our own health be by eating genetically altered foods? So, many questions!

With the temperature that it is outside and the wind that goes right through you. We thought it would be a good day to makeup some chocolate chip cookie dough! We made the cookies using our own free range chicken eggs from the farm. The color of the eggs are just beautiful with the dark golden color yokes! (The rest of the ingredients are store bought.) Later this evening, we will bake the cookie dough and have warm cookies as an 8pm snake! With milk! πŸͺπŸ₯›

Today's adventure!

A well needed day, to be out an about, at a New Year's Day farm auction! There are a few items that we were looking at and other items just to see what they went for. We picked-up a new, to us, hay wagon. Bone meal, sulphur and some plant food for the blueberry bushes and the produce fields. All in all a great day!
