“Dragon Hair Delight” is one of our favorite songs written by Geoff Mitchell for our “Strange Secrets of Starlight Park” Golden Age of radio drama. It’s named after the colorful candy floss treat from a scene soon after the main character, Evander, makes his way into the rekindled magic of this abandoned world.
Enjoy a section from the song here, set to imagery of our dragon, Fricka, the creator of this delicious candy.
We’re looking forward to recording Episode Two for this radio drama this summer, and creating more music to help tell the story. And we are pretty certain that Fricka will be making an appearance in Episode Two!
If you haven’t yet heard Episode One, you can find the link below to listen! Enjoy!

The countdown to Halloween time has started! With only 95 days to go, we wanted to share this glimpse into our 2022 Anaheim Halloween Parade creation! As the story goes, once upon a time, an enchanting group of magical misfits wandered the lands. We used this inspiration to invite the audience into our colorful world with our parade entry, a collection of wonderfully strange creatures and characters inspired by ghost stories & fairy tales. Our collection included the “Light Queen of the Enchanted Forest” in a glowing gown, the “Moon Rabbit”, the “Forest Guardians” and more! Our “Three Witches” trapped in birdcages were a favorite! Each birdcage was handmade, over five feet tall and was topped with a carved pumpkin representing the emotion of the witch trapped inside. Enjoy the video!
We hope you enjoy this music box song, “The Krøderbanen Express”, created for our upcoming “Strange Secrets of Starlight Park” radio drama!
We love the story of how this song came to be! One of our local voice actresses, Carol Latham, was working on the retake of a scene with Geoff Mitchell who has created the music and sound design for the show. Carol plays the part of a mystical woman named Helka who lulls, by soft humming, our main character (Evander) into other places in time and space. These are imagined and seemingly impossible places which Evander describes as so authentic that he really thought he was there!
Carol made up her own humming passages on the spot during recording. Later, Geoff kept hearing this particular melody she hummed as a music box song. Finally, he just had to sit down at the keyboard and get it recorded. This song is note by note the melody Carol hummed. It makes a wonderful addition to the show and displays the wonders of creative collaboration. Thanks to both Carol and Geoff for a great musical collaboration to this project!
One of our favorite parts of working on our upcoming radio drama, “Strange Secrets of Starlight Park” is creating vintage style commercials for fictional and magical places. We’ve been hard at work creating the music for the show, including this fun ragtime music composed for the Dream Parlor Cafe! The commercial is voiced by the talented Michelle Richards.
Take a listen to hear all about a color-changing lemonade and all sorts of flavors of creamed ice…please enjoy!

We’d like to give you a sneak peek into what we’re working on with our “Strange Secrets of Starlight Park” golden age radio program. And we thought a fun way to do that would be to share one of the commercial breaks from the show. Each commercial advertises a fictional place within one of our existing miniature diorama scenes, or one that is to come … this one is “The Penguin Club” voiced by the wonderfully talented, Brian Sommer.
The Penguin Club (commercial script): "Friends, we truly live in a Golden Age … an abundant land of great inventions, thinkers and explorers, would you not agree? And now just opened in Seaside Village is The Penguin Club, a wonderful new location in which to study, imagine and socialize among like-minded visionaries and free spirits. With so many rare books, art and ancient manuscripts within our lovely setting, you’ll feel as if you’ve just been welcomed into the Library of Alexandria!
Sip the rarest white lavender honeycomb elixir on our grand veranda. Afterwards, lunch in our splendid dining hall with breathtaking views of Kings Bay and Albert Island. Visit us today at the corner of 4th and Main streets in Seaside Village and apply for your membership to The Penguin Club!"
We love storytelling in all forms…painting, sculpture, miniature scenes, sound, and of course, film! Please enjoy this short clip from Geoff Mitchell’s film, “Yellow Sister, Blue Sister”. It uses light, sound and visuals to create an emotional experience for the viewer. Please enjoy!

Meet Price Wheeler of our radio drama, “Strange Secrets of Starlight Park.” Price (but most folks call him Doc) is well-known for inventing the world-famous Honeycomb Miracle Elixir. It can cure most anything…a lovesick heart, baldness, even a dust-up with your father. Doc was out peddling his wares at the Anaheim Halloween Parade last Saturday with his giant shimmering elixir bottle.
Watch the video to see how it magically changes colors in time with the music!

Yellow Sister, Blue Sister
Please enjoy this short clip from our experimental film project, "Yellow Sister, Blue Sister". It was such a fun project to work on and taught us so much about different forms of storytelling.
Bob Baker Marionette Theater
The Bob Baker Marionette Theater is an extraordinarily special place and their current show “Something to Crow About”, features our favorite bullfrogs. These bullfrogs performed for our “Sidecar Puppetry Revue” last March as our opening act and we wanted to share it with you all one more time.
If you haven’t heard of Bob Baker before, here is a little history for you. In 1963, Bob Baker and partner Alton Wood transformed a run-down scenic shop near downtown Los Angeles into a family entertainment institution: Bob Baker Marionette Theater. Named an official Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument in 2009, the Theater has served over one million children with original shows ranging from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” to a musical journey through the history of Los Angeles.
After Bob’s passing in 2014 at the age of 90, the puppeteers and staff had to transition to being the stewards of both the past and the future of Bob’s beloved Theater. The Bob Baker moved from the historic home to a new theater in Highland Park and the past decade there has been spent doing everything possible to preserve this essential part of the history of puppetry.
Go visit them to see these dancing bullfrogs in action, but in the meantime enjoy the video!
