Wethersfield

Wethersfield Wethersfield Farm, Garden, House, & Carriage House Museum

Wethersfield is located in Amenia, NY and was originally the country estate of Chauncey Devereux Stillman (1907-1989). Wethersfield was left to Homeland Foundation, a not for profit organized by Mr. Stillman in 1938. After Mr. Stillman’s death in 1989, Wethersfield was opened to the public for open space and scenic enjoyment. Mr. Stillman, an investor and philanthropist, purchased the original property, a dairy farm, and named it Wethersfield Farm, after Wethersfield, Connecticut, where his ancestors had settled in the late 1600s. Wethersfield occupies1,200 acres in Northeast Dutchess County and consists of Wethersfield House Museum, Gardens, Carriage House, and Farm. The House, Museum, and Gardens are situated at an elevation of 1,200 ft., the highest point in the region, which provides panoramic views of the Catskills to the west and the Berkshires to the north.

SIX PART LECTURE SERIES on NATURAL LAW by Rev. Joseph W. Koterski, S.J., Fordham Philosopher. Lectures 6:30-7:30 pm, followed by Q&A.

Doors open at 6pm

$15 per lecture or $60 for series. Sign up for entire series at www.wethersfieldgarden.org/current-and-upcoming-events.html (Individual lecture, pay at the door).

Rev. Koterski, winner of both the undergraduate and graduate Teacher of the Year Awards at Fordham, will help you understand the importance of Natural Law and its centrality with Catholicism. You cannot understand the trending social and economic issues of our day unless you have a well-developed framework for analysis. Let Father Koterski guide you to a clear understanding of Natural Law. In this confused, convulsive age in which we live, come listen to knowledgeable, thoughtful instruction that will enable you to better understand the “hot button” social challenges of today: Euthanasia, Capital Punishment, Discrimination, Human Rights, and others that will arise.
