The Altoona Association of Model Railroaders

The Altoona Association of Model Railroaders The Association's layout area is a "must see" for all railfans visiting the historic Altoona area. With detailed scenes, sweeping Central Alleghenies scenery, outstanding overall modeling, and the largest collection of railroad plate memorabillia in the area, there is something for every train enthusiast and "tag along."

Just a reminder that the AAMR remains closed at this time. As per directive from the governor's office, we are not to reopen at this time. Sorry guys!

04/21/2020

Due to the ongoing shutdown, there will be no monthly business meeting this Friday.

Be sure to check on your fellow model railroaders. This is a tough time for everyone who can't run their trains. 🚂🚅🛤️

Hi everyone, unfortunately I have some bad news to share. Gov. Wolf has issued an order to close all non-life sustaining businesses (I know, trains ARE life sustaining!) After the Board reviewed the order and the list of allowed businesses, we've agreed that we fall under the mandated closure. This means that effective IMMEDIATELY, the club is closed to everyone, including members. Sorry guys. I know this sucks but this is the best way to get thru this crisis. Hope to see you all soon. Stay healthy!

03/16/2020

Out of an abundance of caution and the recent recommendation from the Governor's office, the AAMR Board of Directors has made the decision to close the facilities to the public until further notice. All members should check email and text for additional information. If you don't receive this information, please reach out to the club president or secretary.

The business meeting scheduled 3/27/20 will be cancelled.

We thank you all for your continued support and hope that you'll visit us again after the national crisis has cleared.

Folks, I've always been interested in the PRR in Altoona, particularly in the 20's to the early 40's. Some of the structures I've thought about modeling are the East Altoona roundhouse, the East Altoona cooling wharf, and the passenger station, the covered area where passengers depart and board the train, in Altoona. I'm looking for pictues of these structures and wonder is anyone in the group could point me in the right direction to find them. Thanks in advance, Bill
Thanks for hosting us again this year! My son Livingstone and I really enjoy visiting witb you guys every year.
Will there be anyone from your N-Scale group be around this Friday and Saturday (August 3 and 4)? My son Livingstone and I would love to stop by and see your N-Scale layout again! Thanks!
