International Life Cast Museum

International Life Cast Museum Mission Statement: “To advance knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the human experience, our unique collection of life casts brings visitors face to face with the giants of history, science and celebrity.” Goals: Presenting life masks, artifacts and stories A Lasting Impression: At the age of twelve, during a visit to Washington, D.C., I was impressed by the towering, larger-than-life statues honoring our nation's history.

Although nowhere near the scale of these monuments, one single object absorbed my total attention and made a lasting impression. This artifact, on display inside a small museum in Ford's Theatre, was a life cast made directly from the face of President Abraham Lincoln himself. (continued on the website

This is a life cast of Chevy Chase. Born in Manhattan, New York, in 1943, Cornelius Crane Chase grew up in Woodstock, New York. Chevy was named after his adoptive grandfather, Cornelius. His nickname ‘Chevy’ came from his grandmother, inspired by the medieval English ballad, ‘The Ballad of Chevy Chase.’ He is a 14th-generation New Yorker. Before he officially turned to entertainment, Chevy wore many hats. He was a waiter, busboy, construction worker, cab and truck driver, produce manager in a supermarket, motorcycle messenger, salesman in a wine store, theater usher and audio engineer. At age 24, Chevy cofounded an underground comedy ensemble called ‘Channel One.’ In 1973, he became a cast member and writer for a satirical radio show called, ‘The National Lampoon Radio Hour.’ Other members included Gilda Radner, Bill Murray, Brian Doyle-Murray and John Belushi. Within two years, all of those comedians signed on to a new late night television show, which was first known as ‘NBC Saturday Night’ and later became ‘Saturday Night Live.’ Chevy’s role on the show was the news anchor. His catchphrase for the news intro was, “I’m Chevy Chase… and you’re not.” He also introduced the show every week (except two) during the first season with, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!” A tradition that persists almost a half-century later. In season two, Chevy left the show and moved to L.A. to work on film projects. His first lead role occurred in 1978, in the romantic comedy ‘Foul Play’ with Goldie Hawn. To date, Chevy has appeared in 60+ films, which include ‘Fletch’ and its sequel, ‘Three Amigos,’ Caddyshack I & II,’ and five ‘National Lampoon’s Vacation’ films, portraying the part of Clark W. Griswold. Along with several guest appearances on TV, Chevy briefly had a late-night talk show in 1993, ‘The Chevy Chase Show.’ He was also a cast member of the TV sitcom ‘Community’ for 83 episodes, from 2009 to 2014. #chevychase #nationallampoon #nationallampoonsvacation #snl #corneliuscranechase #caddyshack #clarkgriswold #saturdaynightlive #museumcollection #plaster #lifecast #lifemask #ilcm #ilcmuseum

This is the life cast of Tim Roth. Born in 1961, in Dulwich, an area of South London, Timothy Simon Roth started acting at age 21. His career began by chance, when he entered a theater one day, with the hope that someone had a bike pump. He walked in on a group holding auditions for a film and was asked to audition. That performance earned him the lead role. Thus with no formal training, Tim made his acting debut in the 1982 Television play ‘Made In Britain.’ He played the part of a white supremacist skinhead named Trevor. Tim went on to make a dozen more films through the 1980s. At this time, the media playing off of the reference to the American “Brat pack,” dubbed Tim and his peers, Colin Firth, Gary Oldman, Daniel Day-Lewis, Bruce Payne and Paul McGann, “The Brit pack.” In the 1990s, Tim moved to Los Angeles. Soon after, he caught the attention of first time writer-director Quentin Tarantino who hired him to play the role of Mr. Orange in his debut film ‘Reservoir Dogs.’ To date, Tim has appeared in two other films by Tarantino, ‘Pulp Fiction’ in 1994, and ‘The Hateful Eight’ in 2015. Some of the other outstanding films among the 80 in his resume include: ‘Vincent & Theo,’ Little Odessa,’ ‘The Incredible Hulk,’ ‘Broken,’ and ‘Rob Roy.’ From the latter, he won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and was nominated for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. In 2001, Tim was offered the role of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter film series but turned it down so that he could play General Thade in Tim Burton’s ‘Planet of the Apes.’ Tim made his directorial debut with ‘The War Zone,’ a film based on the book of the same name by Alexander Stuart. Alongside his film career, Tim has starred in two television series: the crime drama ‘Lie to Me’ from 2009 to ’11 in the role of Dr. Cal Lightman; and the British-Canadian crime drama ‘Tin Star’ from 2017 to the present, in the role of Jim Worth. #timroth #actor #thebritpack #thehatefuleight #lietome #reservoirdogs #pulpfiction #british #famous #awardwinner #planetoftheapes #tinstar #greatguessing #museumcollection #plaster #lifecast #lifemask #ilcmuseum #ILCM

This is a life cast of comedian Phil Hartman. Born in Brantiford, Ontario, Canada, in 1948, actor and screenwriter Philip Edward Hartmann (he later dropped one ‘n’) brought a lot of laughter to the world in his short life. His family moved to Lewiston, Maine when he was ten, then to Connecticut, before they settled on the West Coast. His first job was a graphic designer. He created more than 40 album covers and logos for bands like ‘America,’ ‘Poco,’ and ‘Crosby, Stills & Nash.’ Always the class clown, while he lived in California, Phil was drawn to attend evening comedy classes run by the improvisational comedy group ‘The Groundlings.’ Within four years, he became one of the show’s stars. Within the group, Phil began to collaborate his comedic material with fellow comedian Paul Reubens. Together they created the persona Pee-wee Herman and from that launched ‘The Pee-wee Herman Show.’ It was a live stage show which also aired on HBO in 1981. That evolved into ‘Pee-wee’s Playhouse,’ a Saturday morning children’s show on CBS that ran for five seasons. Phil played the part of Captain Carl. In 1985, Phil co-wrote the screenplay to Pee-wee’s Big Adventure. It was Tim Burton’s directing debut for a full-length film. In 1986, Phil began his extraordinary eight-year run on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ His talent for doing impressions led him to create over 70 characters for the show. His nickname was ‘Glue.’ SNL creator Lorne Michaels explained the reason for the name, “He kind of held the show together. He gave to everybody and demanded very little. He was very low-maintenance.” Phil extended his love for impersonations into voice acting and on the TV show ‘The Simpsons’ created voice-over roles in 52 episodes. Phil also starred in the NBC sitcom ‘Newsradio.’ Along with his work on TV, Phil also appeared in 29 films. Throughout his career, Phil was known by his colleagues as a true professional with tremendous warmth and a loyal friend. Unfortunately, this didn’t cross over into his domestic life. His wife, also an actor, faced her depression with drugs, alcohol and jealousy for Phil’s success in the business. It all came to an abrupt end in 1998, when Phil was shot and killed by his wife, who soon after took her own life. After the tragedy, Steve Martin said of his friend that he was, “a deeply funny and very happy person.” To our good fortune, that energy lives in perpetuity through his body of work that he left behind. #guesswho #reveal #PhilHartman #actor #captaincarl #peeweesplayhouse #peeweesbigadventure #snl #newsradio #SaturdayNightLive #simpsons #thesimpsons #glue #comic #comedian #gonetoosoon #tbt #museumcollection #plaster #lifecast #lifemask #ilcmuseum #ILCM

This is a life cast of Mia Farrow. Born in Los Angeles, in 1945, María de Lourdes Villiers Farrow’s career on stage, film and television spans six decades. Her parents were Australian film director John Farrow, who won the Oscar for Best Writing / Best Screenplay for ‘Around the World in 80 Days,’ and Irish-American actress Maureen O’Sullivan, best remembered for playing the part of Jane Parker in the ‘Tarzan’ series of films during the Johnny Weissmuller era. Mia joined her parents in the entertainment business at age two, when she appeared in a short documentary, ‘Unusual Occupations: Film Tot Holiday.’ In 1954, at age nine, Mia was one of 500 people in L.A. County who contracted polio. She was placed in an isolation ward for three weeks. She felt that event marked the end of her childhood. In feature films, Mia had her first uncredited role in her father’s film ‘John Paul Jones’ at age 13. That year she faced the start of a tragic period, with the loss of her older brother who died in a plane crash, followed by the family separating and finally four years later, her father died of a heart attack. Due to family financial issues, Mia took on fashion modeling jobs and found work on the New York stage. Her first credited role in a feature film ‘Guns at Batasi’ in 1964, elevated her status as an actress as she won a Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year. Her success continued with a two year stint on the TV soap opera ‘Peyton Place.’ At that point in time, Mia’s two-year marriage to Frank Sinatra, placed a bright spotlight on her personal life. Critical success followed with her portrayals in the horror film ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ and the romantic drama ‘John and Mary.’ In 1971, Mia shifted her focus back to the stage. She became the first American actress to join the Royal Shakespeare Company playing Joan of Arc in a production of ‘Jeanne d'Arc au bûcher.’ She continued with three more productions. Over the years, Mia has performed in 51 films, 13 from which were directed by Woody Allen, including: ‘Broadway Danny Rose;’ The Purple Rose of Cairo;’ and ‘Hannah and Her Sisters.’ Outside of the entertainment business, Mia has taken part in humanitarian efforts as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in Chad, Darfur and the Central African Republic. #reveal #MiaFarrow #actress #famous #greatguessing #hollywood #celebrity #humanitarian #UNICEF #GoodwillAmbassador #rosemarysbaby #peytonplace #humpday #WednesdayWonder #museumcollection #plaster #lifecast #lifemask #ilcmuseum #ILCM

Lots of wonderful life masks made for film,TV and from history, I have a few in my collection. All the more sad that in their long, long careers that the 3 Stooges never had their life masks created. The budget conscience Harry Cohen, head of Columbia would not o-k this for them, as they used floppy dummies for quick jump cuts from falls back to the actors. This process became a known and accepted bit of their shorts, and does give a certain crude charm when watching as they try to match the dummies landings. All at the lost of history/collectors, denied these comic giants their ILCM place of honor! y
I've liked this page for many years, but the website still says that the museum isn't built yet. Is there a timetable on this at all?
Where are you located? The link to your website doesn't work... would love to visit. Thanks!
Sherman is the sole reason the American Bison almost became extinct. After the Civil War he practiced his "total war" strategy against the Native Americans.
I would love to come visit someday! Where are you located?

Love this page! I did one a few weeks ago in silicone. Got too excited to see the finished product so it didn't come out so well, but next pour should go a lot better. Now my husband tells everyone he keeps his wife's head in the garage.
