For a good summer read try this book and then meet Theresa Anne Fowler at Luncheon With The Authors on Oct. 3.

A Well-Behaved Woman: A Novel of the Vanderbilts by Therese Anne Fowler

A fascinating, fictionalized biography of a fiercely strong and influential woman who was so much more than her married name would imply. As a result o the Civil War and its aftermath, Alva Smith was nearly destitute before she married William Vanderbilt in 1875. She transformed herself into a Grand dame, bucking conventions of the day to support women's suffrage, back charitable causes, helm construction of nine mansions, and shepherd the once-shunned Vanderbilt family up the highest societal rungs.

On Friday, March 8, the Athleta store at the Promenade Shops in Center Valley will hold a Shop for a Cause day to benefit the Society of the Arts. On that day 10% of the amount of any purchase will be donated to SOTA when you mention SOTA at the checkout. And, the customer does not need to be a member of SOTA, but just has to mention SOTA. Think about inviting a friend!

Even better, the 20% Friends and Family discount will apply for customers shopping to support SOTA on both regular price and sale merchandise. Bargains for you and a donation to SOTA, courtesy of Athleta.

Mark the date and Shop for a Cause. Athleta is near the Town Square, two doors from Brooks Brothers.
