On this holiday weekend, a few facts about the Fisher & Norris anvil company: 1. They were the first American company to mass produce anvils. 2. During its 136 year run, they produced more anvils than any other American anvil company. 3. During its run, it was owned by only 5 people and one company.

New addition from the CRAFTSofNJ annual tool auction yesterday. Great condition #7 Fisher anvil, roughly 1865-1870 vintage. The round Eagle logo is in great condition. The weight is exactly 69 lb. This piece completes the second run of these in the museum. This anvil is in exceptional condition for being about 160 years old. Not much gets added to the Museum these days. But when I find an interesting piece in great condition, I make an exception. The newest piece just added is this great Hay Budden anvil. 83 lb, two piece construction. Serial # A36362, made 1921/1922 according to AIA. This is the highest serial number HB in the Museum collection, and one of the highest number HB anvil found. If anyone has a HB anvil with a higher A###xx serial number, please post photos of the anvil and the serial number. AIA HB chart indicates that serial numbers go up to around A57000. If you have a HB anvil with an A serial number in the 40000 or 50000, please post photos. Thanks. Remember, "The History of Fisher & Norris" book is always available at shop.fishernorris.com.
