Prav tako so razbijali kipe in uničevali slike antičnih avtorjev v času ikonoklazma (o tem izjemna knjiga Catherine Nixey- The darkening age).
The production of the last, tenth mold for the exhibition and event taking place in May at the Mulec Gallery.
In Slovenian tradition, the "tenth brother" or "tenth sister" is the one who in the past had to leave home. In folk tales, a gold coin or a ring is kneaded into the bread, and whoever finds it must leave home...
In sculpture, after casting a certain number of sculptural pieces (up to 12 is considered an original), the mold is broken.
But sculptural works are also destroyed—there is evidence of this from ancient civilizations, where certain individuals were erased from "historicization" by smashing all their depictions and inscriptions on stone monuments. Similarly, statues were smashed and paintings of ancient authors were destroyed during iconoclasm (on this topic, there is an exceptional book by Catherine Nixey, The Darkening Age). In the previous century and the current one, we have witnessed the same processes, as nations transition from one ideological sphere to another, destroying monuments that do not align with their vision of the world.
Would you destroy a work of art that you had just purchased?
