J came to the studio with a mission—to find a way to create a woven fabric sample that would beautifully showcase the special yarn her company produces.

Since she needed only a small swatch and the yarn was exceptionally fine, we suggested she try weaving on a bead-weaving loom. And look at the beautiful sample she created with us!

J began her multi-shaft weaving journey with us last year. While she loved weaving on a multi-shaft loom, owning one was never quite in the plans because there are so many other things that she enjoys and needs to make time for. Instead, J decided to approach this differently, committing herself to at least one weaving project with us in the studio each year. She also set herself the goal of exploring a new structure or technique with each project.

Last year, J wove a drapey and light huck lace shawl in tencel. This year, she decided to try something quite different: mercerised cotton in a warp dominant rep weave.

Just look at those colours! This beautiful runner is rich, vibrant and full of texture. J plans to donate it to a fundraising auction next year, and we have a feeling there will be plenty of interest when this gorgeous piece goes under the hammer.

If you are like J, you love weaving but does not necessarily have the space or desire to own a loom, get in touch with us. There are ways to make weaving part of your creative life without having to find space for a loom at home. We would be happy to explore what might work for you!

Our next gathering takes place on Friday, 9 October, in conjunction with Spinning and Weaving Week. Spend an evening with us! You can bring your project if you have one, or simply come as you are.

Most of us probably have enough fibre stuff to qualify for 𝘚𝘈𝘉𝘓𝘌 — 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘴𝘩 𝘈𝘤𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘺. 😅 But have we ever stopped to think about what happens to all that stash when we are no longer around?

And it is not just the stash. The wheels, looms, tools, books and half-finished projects may have plenty of life left in them — and some may be worth quite a bit. So, how do we make it easier for the next person to know what we have and what might be worth passing on?

Join us for a conversation about planning ahead with some practical starting points. It’s not a legal or financial planning seminar, just an opportunity to start thinking about something many of us may have happily avoided thinking about until now.

Good fibre equipment is built to last.

Looms and spinning wheels can pass through the hands of many makers, accompanying each of us through different seasons of our practice - whether through downsizing, a change in direction, or growing into new tools.

We have often been approached about pre-loved equipment in Singapore: where to find it, whether we buy it, and whether we can help connect buyers and sellers.

Recently, we put together a new resource on our website to explain our approach. While we do not have any arrangements to purchase or consign pre-loved equipment, we may be able to connect buyers and sellers within our community. We also offer inspection, verification and servicing by appointment.

Pre-loved equipment can be hard to find in Singapore, so we hope this resource helps makers navigate the process with a little more confidence and care.

Because every good loom deserves another pair of hands, and every spinning wheel another story.

Here’s a look at what some of our local spinners worked on during Tour de Fleece 2026. They used a wonderful range of tools, including drop spindles, Turkish spindles, spinning wheels and e-spinners, and explored an equally diverse selection of fibres—from animal and plant fibres to synthetic blends. Most people may not be aware of this but maintenance, servicing and repair of spinning and weaving equipment is something we do offer on a request-basis.

Perhaps you have inherited or purchased an equipment that hasn’t been used for a while, or perhaps life seasons took you for a detour and you are just coming back to spinning or weaving after a long hiatus and your equipment needs to be checked out.

The latter was S’s experience. After several years of not using her EEW6, she found that the motor was not running as well as it should. She reached out to us and thankfully we had some replacement motors! The espinner has been rejuvenated and we are looking forward to seeing S’s beautiful creations!

This spinning workshop was a birth@day present from I to C. C has been a knitter for years and was curious to learn how yarn is spun. G is a knitter and came to learn about rigid heddle weaving when she was exploring ways to utilize her growing yarn stash.

Just weeks after completing our Fundamentals of Rigid Heddle Weaving workshop, she has not only woven several learning samples from her stash, but has also completed this beautiful tartan-inspired scarf.

What makes this project even more special is that, before learning to weave, G was still puzzling over how she could ever make use of the varying quantities of yarn that now come together so beautifully in this piece.

We love seeing moments like these — when a new skill doesn't just open up new creative possibilities, but also changes the way we look at the materials we already have.
