As we celebrate 𝗭𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆’𝘀 𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆, we’re sharing a glimpse into the studios of the artists whose presence has defined these five years.
Throughout this anniversary season, our artists open their doors each Friday, offering insight into their art practices - leading up to and beyond the launch of our anniversary catalogue and exhibition.
This week, we visit 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶, whose practice often references and uses body’s senses and the ritual component of everyday actions, such as washing, combing hair, (un)dressing, and taking care of the body. With leisure practices and daily rituals at its core, Cocioni’s practice is building up a scenario that allows a slower pace within domestic settings, a space beyond the men-dominated world. Therefore, by blending various materials, her practice steers clear of the unitary binary fallacies, reclaiming the resilience of female bodies in contemporary visual experiences.
