For the past few weeks, I have been working on a new painting. I documented the process and created a film around it, incorporating old photographs and personal video footage of my son David when he was little, from a time when I was a very young single mother, and it was just the two of us. While working on the painting and going back through those memories, I realized once again how quickly childhood passes and how the ordinary moments we barely notice can become the moments we miss the most.
There were moments in those photographs that I had almost forgotten. Moments that seemed so ordinary back then, but that I would give anything to live again today.
I have a feeling that many of you will recognize something of your own lives in this story. Perhaps a child who once held your hand, a home that once sounded different, or a time in your life you never imagined you would one day miss so much.
