A Coleção Manuel de Brito assinala o centenário do nascimento de Menez com uma exposição dedicada à sua obra e ao seu legado artístico.
Inauguração: Sábado, 20 de junho de 2026, das 16h00 às 20h00.
Menez começou a pintar aos 26 anos, sem nunca ter tido mestres ou frequentado escolas. Aprendeu pintando. Nunca dava títulos aos seus quadros nem gostava de falar do seu trabalho, a pintura tem que falar por si, sem necessidade de palavras. Dizia não perceber muito a abordagem que os críticos fazem da arte, eles dizem coisas sobre a pintura como se ela fosse uma coisa completamente desligada de tudo o que é importante na vida.

The Manuel de Brito Collection marks the centenary of Menez’s birth with an exhibition dedicated to her work and artistic legacy.
Opening: Saturday, June 20th, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Menez began painting at the age of twenty-six, having never studied under a master or attended art school. She learned by painting. She never gave titles to her works and disliked talking about them, believing that painting should speak for itself, without the need for words. She often said that she did not fully understand the way critics approached art; they spoke about painting as if it were something completely detached from everything that is important in life.
