Most of the Philippines' exposure is done by showcasing its wonders, tourist attractions, and festivities. Filipinos put up this facade for the sake of coming clean, when in fact, there is so much going on in the Philippines that make one consider "It's not so fun in the Philippines after all." This is the exact reason why Mukha ni Juan built a theme around exposing the elements and occurrences here that Filipinos almost always don't want anyone else to know. Its purpose is for the people to come into terms with the fact that the country needs help. It needs proper nourishment from its own people. It begs for betterment. Actual betterment.

“Throw It and Forget It”

A small pile of trash sits on the side of the road right next to an unkempt foliage. Here we are given insight to one of Philippines' saddest realities: the lack of implementation regarding proper garbage disposal. Most Filipinos just have this ugly habit of throwing trash anywhere and anytime without second thoughts, even growing up our ideas on where we can throw garbage became as polluted as our streets. We have a habit of throwing trash in places we think no one would care, as a result, we neglect the piles of trash we’ve created.

This is as much the face of the Philippines as the beautiful scenery we have to offer. In order for us to solve this problem, we need to accept responsibility and take action.

There is no evil behind the thought of humankind seeking comfort in all places and in all forms possible — it is rather natural. Though the sight of supposed materials of comfort enclosed in piles of trash amongst the greens of nature, is nothing but exemplified discomfort. It goes beyond nature being a place for everything. Easily, this signifies humanity knows no limit in taking advantage of the wide and open nature.
