A tribute to his captain by a still living U.S. Navy veteran in his 90's.

Commanding Officer of the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CV-42) from February 1959 to March 1960.

An ace pilot in action against enemy Japanese forces during the Battle for Leyte Gulf, October 25, 1944. Through a barrage of intense antiaircraft fire, he skillfully directed his attacking aircraft in a determined aerial onslaught which resulted in the sinking of one large and one medium aircraft carrier.

The triptych would hang on his wall, his portrait, his captain and their ship.

I joined a lot of competitions when I was a student. Most likely you will not win a major prize.
To be a finalist in Metrobank Foundation Art Competition twice was a good thing already. To be chosen among the many was a recognition, my pieces were sold and got some commission works. For a student that was an honor since you were against the professionals in a national competition.
The other good thing about this certificate is, it bears the signature of a National Artist, Hon. Lucrecia R. Kasilag.
There was a cash incentive as well P10k-P15k ,not so sure but it was good during those days.
