Palay Eau de Toilette is a reprise of Amorsolo’s Sky, our first collaboration with Filipino perfumer Oscar Mejia Artisan Fragrances , where the Palay Accord is the heart much like palay imagery serves as the heart of what Fernando Amorsolo wanted to express.
Golden rice fields are among the most enduring images in Amorsolo’s work. More than a recurring subject, they seem to hold the very spirit of his oeuvre, as light finds its fullest expression upon the land.
From this image, Oscar shaped the Palay Accord.
It seeks to capture the paradox of this golden crop: rich yet translucent, radiant yet grounded. There is a soft graininess that recalls sun-warmed husks, lifted by a subtle green freshness and finished with an herbal depth that lingers close to the skin. It is at once humble and precious. A staple transformed by light.
Palay Eau de Toilette, therefore, becomes an extension of Amorsolo’s genius. Where scenes of everyday Filipino life are not merely depicted but illuminated.
And in that gentle glow, one finds again that sense of gaan ng loob. A lightness that is deeply felt and quietly sustained.
