TIMELINE IN THE CREATION OF DOLORES AS MUNICIPALITY.
1862, November 20. Father Manuel Lozano, parish priest of Tubig, approved the petition to change the status of Paric from a barrio to a pueblo (municipality), and was approved by the Spanish Governor of Samar.

1863, March 28. The Friar, Benito de Madridejos, Bishop of Cebu, approved the petition.

1863, August 31. General Rafael de Echague also approved the petition and send the file (expediente) to Madrid, Spain.

TODAY IN HISTORY. The “Armada” of Ferdinand Magellan landed on Homonhon island on Sunday, March 17, 1521. Father Pedro de Valderama, chaplain of the fleet, officiated THE FIRST MASS IN THE PHILIPPINES on that same date. (For the arguments, kindly read my 240-page book, “Homonhon Island: The Correct Site of the First Mass in the Philippines.”) Contrary to popular belief, Magellan did not land on March 16; he only saw the highlands of Samar on that date. It is not true, either, that he landed on Suluan island; rather, the fleet anchored off Suluan island in the evening of March 16. It is not true, either, that he landed on Calicoan island or in the vicinity of Bgy Ngolos. That is pure fiction, fake news, mere invention.
