COLLECTIVE VOICE
[ A Statement on Freedom of Expression ]

A collective is not defined by unanimity, but by a shared commitment to build together.

Many individuals contribute to Balaraw Art Collective, each with their own voice. Members remain free to express their own views and convictions. Such statements belong to the individuals who make them and should not be taken as speaking for the entirety of the collective.

The collective speaks only when it has chosen to speak as one.

Whether painted alone or together, every mural is an act of belief.

From 220 remarkable entries submitted by artists and collectives across the country, we are deeply honored that Balaraw Art Collective has been selected as one of the Top 100 National Finalists of the WPS Mural Festival 2026.

We also proudly celebrate our fellow Balaraw artist, John Melvin Garcia, whose solo mural entry has likewise earned a place among this year's Top 100.

The festival reminds us that the strength of the Filipino spirit lies in bayanihan, not only in creating together, but also in standing together for the stories, identity, and waters that unite us. Through art, we affirm that what is ours is worth remembering, protecting, and passing on.

Congratulations to all the finalists! Nawa'y patuloy pa tayong lumikha ng sining na nagbibigay-tinig, nagbubuklod, at nagpapalaya.

Karagatan. Kalayaan. Kulayan.
