Prayer to the Mother of Sorrows.
O Mary, Mother of Sorrows, I beseech thee, by the bitter agony though didst endure at the foot of the cross, offer to the Eternal Father, in my name, thy Beloved Son, Jesus, all covered with Blood and Wounds, in satisfaction for my sins, for the needs of the Holy Church, the conversion of sinners, the relief of souls in Purgatory, and for the special grace I now implore. Amen
Hail Mary, full of Sorrows, the Crucified is with thee; tearful art thou amongst women, and tearful is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of the Crucified, give tears to us, crucifies of thy Son, now and at the hour of our death.

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Opening Prayer
O Mother, most holy and sorrowful, Queen of Martyrs, who stood by your Son as He agonized on the cross; by the sufferings of your life, by that sword of pain that pierced your heart, look down on me kindly as I kneel before you.

I sympathize with your sorrows and offer you my petitions with childlike trust. Dear Mother, since your Son refuses you nothing, ask of His Sacred Heart to mercifully grant what I ask:

Second Day Meditation:
The Flight into Egypt
Most Sorrowful Mother, your mother’s heart brimmed over with sorrow at the hatred of Herod for your innocent Son. To save Him from the king’s jealousy, you had to flee with Him into Egypt. Your heart also suffered at seeing the anxiety of Saint Joseph as he led you and the divine Child into exile and the unknown.

Queen of Martyrs, let me unite my heart to yours in this sorrow, and obtain for me the grace to avoid those who wish me evil, above all, evil to my soul. Help me to avoid temptations and never leave the difficult but royal road to heaven. Amen.

Mother most merciful, offer Jesus but one drop of His Precious Blood and one pang of His Loving Heart. Remind Him that you are our sweetness, our life, and our hope, and your prayer will be heard. Amen.

Day 1 Meditation — The Prophecy of Simeon
O Most Sorrowful Mary, on the day of your Holy Purification, you brought your divine Child to the Temple to offer Him to the Heavenly Father. There, the righteous Simeon foretold that a sword of sorrow would pierce your soul. In that instant, the full scope of your Son’s passion and death was revealed to your immaculate heart. By this first great Sorrow, obtain for me the grace to accept all trials and suffering with resignation to God’s holy will, and the courage to remain faithful to Christ in every moment of my life.
