FINAL UPDATE ON THE CONDITION OF GRAND TUHON SUPREMO LEO T. GAJE JR.
It is with a heavy heart that we share what may be our final public update regarding the present condition of Grand Tuhon Supremo Leo T. Gaje Jr.
For more than a year, since he was entrusted to our care by his daughter, Jade Gaje, we have done everything within our ability to provide him with the dignity, care, and support he deserves. We welcomed him into our home and took full responsibility for his daily wellness, caregiving, medication, nutrition, medical needs, and overall well-being. Even as his health declined, we continued arranging visits and training opportunities so that he could still share his wisdom, knowledge, and legacy with those who came to learn from him.
This has never been merely a responsibility to us—it has been a mission of honor. For more than a year, we have given not only our financial resources, but also our time, our strength, our work, and our personal lives to ensure that Grand Tuhon Supremo received the care, comfort, dignity, and respect befitting a living legend. We have gone far beyond the call of duty, carrying responsibilities that no single guardian should have to bear alone. We did so willingly, out of gratitude, loyalty, and our commitment to preserving the life and legacy of one of the greatest masters of Filipino Martial Arts.
As his condition became increasingly frail, so did the demands of his care. While we sincerely appreciate every person who has extended support along the way, the assistance received has been far from enough to meet the continuing costs of caregiving, medication, nutrition, medical supplies, and other daily necessities. Throughout this entire journey, we have maintained complete transparency, keeping records, receipts, and documentation of the expenses incurred.
Today, we have reached the point where we can no longer sustain the financial and physical demands required to continue providing the level of care that Grand Tuhon Supremo needs.
We have repeatedly sought coordination regarding his future care. Grand Tuhon Rommel Tortal has also made sincere efforts to help facilitate communication and find a workable solution. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, no concrete support or long-term arrangement has materialized, and we have not received a response from his daughter regarding the next steps.
Because of this reality, we are now left with no other choice but to begin making the difficult decision to transition Grand Tuhon Supremo’s care. While the final arrangements have not yet been determined, we can no longer continue carrying this responsibility alone.
This decision is born out of necessity, not abandonment. We have given everything we could—far beyond the call of duty—to ensure that Grand Tuhon Supremo was cared for with honor, compassion, and dignity. We have reached the limits of what we can continue to provide without the support that is needed.
We remain deeply grateful for everyone who has stood with us, prayed with us, visited Grand Tuhon Supremo, and supported him throughout this journey. Your kindness has meant more than words can express.
We humbly ask for your continued prayers for Grand Tuhon Supremo during this difficult time. It is our sincere hope that a compassionate, responsible, and sustainable solution can still be found—one that preserves his dignity and ensures he receives the care he deserves in this final chapter of his life.
Grand Tuhon Supremo’s legacy belongs not only to his family, but to generations of students and practitioners around the world. We have done everything within our means to honor that legacy. With heavy hearts, we now entrust the next chapter to those who are willing and able to carry it forward.
