Our Story

Lava Glass was founded in 2002 by award-winning master glass artist Lynden Over and his wife Christine Robb. The complex comprises an art glass gallery, a glassblowing studio, a glass art sculpture garden and a gourmet cafe. Lava Glass is the perfect spot to watch glassblowing, browse the adjoining gallery of New Zealand inspired glass art and take a stroll through a beautiful sculpture garden. The New Zealand Gardens Trust has endorsed our garden as a national “Garden of Significance”. It is the only garden of its kind in the southern hemisphere and features more than 600 glass sculptures.
