NEW WORK BY JAVIER MURCIA //

A layered, sculptural work combining sand, epoxy resin, enamel paint, and integrated LEDs, Velvet Storm explores the interplay between texture, depth, and light. Built on MDF and embedded with a custom controller, the work shifts subtly in response to its environment, revealing different tones and dimensions over time.

Murcia’s practice draws on both contemporary and figurative influences, creating works that feel at once tactile and atmospheric.

Javier Murcia was born in the Canary Islands, Spain, in 1981. His artistic journey began at the University of La Laguna, Spain, between 2002 and 2005, where he delved into various artistic mediums, including drawing, painting, and foundry work. Among these disciplines, he found a deep fascination for sculpting, drawing inspiration from contemporary and figurative art.⁠
