HAVE YOU SEEN ANY OF THESE ITEMS - please get in touch with the Maritime Park or the Paeroa Police station if you have come across any of these items. We will continue to remain hopeful that somehow these items will be returned. We are willing to ask no questions and will just be grateful to have them back. Every piece of brass you see was taken along with the drive gear, portholes, railings etc. Sadley they used a crowbar to remove much of what they have taken damaging the boat and making a real mess of things.

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful community

We have been overwhelmed by the kindness, messages of support, baking and thoughtful comments we have received following the recent theft of brass from two of our very special boats at the Historical Maritime Park. Thank you to everyone who has reached out—it means a great deal to our volunteers and to the wider park community.

We would also like to sincerely thank the media outlets, radio stations and the team at 7 Sharp for contacting us and helping to tell our story. We hope this coverage will lead to the stolen items being returned and make it extremely difficult for anyone to sell or dispose of them.

Our story will be featured on 7 Sharp this Wednesday evening, and we encourage everyone to tune in and continue sharing the word. Every share helps keep attention on these distinctive pieces and increases the chance of their safe return to the park.
As many of you know, the Historical Maritime Park is run by a voluntary organisation. We had insurance for the boats and some security measures in place, but unfortunately these were not sufficient to identify those responsible. In response, we have established a Givealittle page to help strengthen security at the park ensuring what we have remains safe and secure and support the restoration of the boats as we know there will be a hefty shortfall that will be a financial burden to the park.
We are deeply grateful for the generous offers of help we have already received by way of some local businesses offering up a reward for the safe return of the stolen items, your generosity has not gone unnoticed and we appreciate you all. Historical Maritime Park targeted by thief's for the brass on historical vessels

DEVASTATING BREAK-IN AT THE HISTORICAL MARITIME PARK, PAEROA
We are heartbroken to share that overnight, two of our historic boats, Ariana and Norita, were broken into at the Historical Maritime Park in Paeroa.
Both vessels were stripped of brass fittings and other important items, including portholes, steering wheels, railings, controls and dials.
One of the boats is more than 100 years old. Their fittings are part of their history and are more than likely irreplaceable. Our team is absolutely devastated. This is a terrible blow to the park, to the volunteers who have worked so hard to preserve these vessels, and to the heritage they represent.
We are appealing for the safe return of the stolen items and for any information that may help. If you saw or heard anything suspicious, have been offered fittings matching this description, or know anything about this crime, please contact the police or the Historical Maritime Park.
Please share this post widely. These pieces of maritime history belong with Ariana and Norita, where they can be preserved for future generations.
