“China’s Mona Lisa” - Along the River During the Qingming Festival - is coming to Auckland.
Painted nearly a thousand years ago by ZHANG Zeduan in the Northern Song Dynasty, it captures people’s busy daily life and the beautiful landscape of the capital Bianjing.
Now the more than five-meter long handscroll has been magnified over ten times to a 40-meter large screen and hundreds of characters are being brought to life by technology.
You’ll see the ancient Bian River moving, endless streams of merchants, workers, and livestock, and a change of scene between day and night. A herd of camels is also featured to showcase the prosperous capital is open for business with the western regions.
There will also be interactive games, zither performance, and more. Come and immerse yourself in the ancient city and take a peek at the culture and wisdom of ancient China!
