🥕June 5th -- Kitchen takeover by *Young Future Food Movement* (YFFM), a student group dedicated to improving our campus food system and building community! 🌱
YFFM is working towards a *student-run food stall on campus*, so volunteering with us at the b.a.k. will give them and their network, kitchen experience that will be useful later! 👩‍🍳

We warmly invite you to our upcoming gathering in collaboration with & the Zapatismo Study Group, where we will read zapatista communiqués on and around the reorganization of the autonomy and governance structures of Zapatista communities, which they shared in at the end 2023. We will take their words as inspiration and fertile soil for imagining and anticipating other ways of self-governance, bottom-up organization and life in common, here in this territories we call the Netherlands.

Come join us in this collective exploration of other worlds possible, here and there. And to share some warm zapatista coffee with each other 🐌

All are welcome on Sunday, 25th of may for a showcase session of *Reading Feminism* at BAK, Basecamp for Tactical Imaginaries on Pauwstraat 13!

We will delve into slow, interactive and experimental ways of engaging with Audre Lorde’s poetry, exploring space for ~silence~ , deep listening, sound art and reading as a collective process.

Hoe kunnen kunstenaars onderdeel te zijn van maatschappelijke processen, zonder daarin te worden geïnstrumentaliseerd?

Tijdens deze expertmeeting ga je samen met kunstenaars, onderzoekers en makers in gesprek over autonomie, mandaat en eigenaarschap binnen sociaal betrokken kunstpraktijken.

Met bijdragen van o.a. Anke Coumans over methoden en vocabulaire van sociaal embedded kunst, en Nathalie Beekman over eigenaarschap en autonomie.

The blindfolded figure of Justice walks a tightrope—stretched between power and vulnerability. Beneath her: an abyss of abandonment and erasure. Every step is an act of courage.

Rehearsal of Justice is a series of participatory gatherings curated by artist and activist , where we simulate trials, reimagine justice, and explore fundamental human rights. Together, we blur the lines between performance, activism, and legal inquiry.

Last week Garage School of Medicine hosted the second event of the Metabolic Literacies series for for Tactical Imaginaries. Distilling Memory was a session of foraging, alchemy and distillation of matter and words. Working from the understanding that memory is a volatile, living, metabolic process, we ask how we can chew and metabolise this moment collectively.

🍄‍🟫b.ASIC a.CTIVIST k.ITCHEN sporulation, friendships and other collective imaginaries🍄‍🟫

These illustrations are the fruit of a long friendship rooted in shared living, shared cooking, and shared drawing — a collaboration that grew alongside pots of fermenting jars, spiced stews, and sketchbooks full of imaginaries lives.

It celebrates the invisible communities already thriving in our food: spores that dance in mushrooms, ferments bubbling in colonies, seeds dreaming of whole new plants. These tiny ecosystems remind us that community is everywhere — not only something we build, but something we taste, grow, and live with every day.

Weaving Labs is a participatory project rooted in the intersections of textile, memory, identity, and collective storytelling. It starts to form with community workshops where weaving and embroidery are used not only as craft techniques, but as cultural tools to explore personal and political narratives.

The lab format emphasizes experimentation, learning, and co-creation. Participants are invited into a welcoming space where tradition is not preserved in stillness but reimagined in motion.

Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own fabric or textiles of preference. Let’s create something together - slowly, thoughtfully, and with care.
Whether you’re experienced or just curious, this is an open space to weave, embroider, connect, and share stories through threads.

Everyone is welcome. Drop by, stay a while, and weave with us at Basecamp for tactical imaginaries on April 24 from 15:00 until 18:00. Later on you are all welcome to stay and enjoy voku dinner thanks to the. b.ASIC a.CTIVIST k.ITCHEN.

How do we build together? How do we work towards collective liberation?

On Tuesday the 22nd of April Reading Counterpower Amsterdam comes together at for Tactical Imaginaries to chew on these questions and nourish ourselves; we collectively eat, we collectively read.

We will take turns reading two texts aloud that address alternative ways of organizing. The texts dive into developing a truly revolutionary communal culture and deflecting hierarchical and competitive tendencies within our group structures. Afterward, we gather whatever insights it has sown. Let’s (un)learn together, and break out of the liberal framework that tries to have a grip on us all. Can we imagine a truly collective-minded future?

How do we build our community kitchen?
How does it translate into organic shapes?

The noise of a circular saw, rescued sweet potatoes, hip-hop bangers on the speaker, sketches and measurements of the shelf fungus inspired b.a.r. in the making, conversations about financial ultrastructures to sustain labour and supplies, wood dust, a long dining table, many hands, a carpentry workshop, the smell of a freshly baked apple crumble and a succulent cauliflower takeover stew by

One recipe and one screw at the time things are taking shape. Organically.

"Accommodating weird shapes together takes indeed a bit longer time, care and effort to develop the non-standardized bindings, connections and structures. Nevertheless, when the piece is finally standing, it has a softer relation with us "the organics".
