Throughout his career Frank Havermans has been fascinated by the city as an organism. Created, planned by man, leaving little to chance. In doing so cities have become more and more distant from their initial purpose. This juxtaposition has become the breeding ground for his work.
His Sculptures, Installations, Cinematography and Photographs imagine a future which is a far cry from the grey monotonous habitat we call a metropolis. They imagine a future where human scale is embraced.

An Artist Talk with Frank Havermans about his works and motives is scheduled on Sunday, February 4th at 15:00. We hope to see you there!

Tilmann Meyer Faje (1971) is a Dutch/German artist who works and lives in Amsterdam where he graduated in 2000 from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and the Sandberg Institute in 2004. In his work he focuses the failure of industrial processes. With his ceramic sculptures, he replicates contemporary constructions from our highly developed civilization and anticipates their decay. During the modeling, clay changes its consistence permanently, possibly due to temperature, moisture or weight – a process in which potentials he is highly interested in. He builds structures while they tumble down from their own weight.

Art historian Tamara Beheydt wrote this profile about Katleen Vinck;
The starting point for Katleen Vinck’s sculptural work is her extreme fascination for architecture; its history, its meaning, its materials, and its technical intricacies. Architecture has accompanied and sustained humans throughout their history. Its foundations are often the last, imperishable remainders of long-lost civilizations. Archaeological research helps us discover our past, but also offers important reflections about the future.

It is precisely on the verge of these universes, in the field tension between a scientifically verified past and an imagined future, that Vinck’s sculptures are situated. Some shapes might remind us of a tank or a UFO floating through the exhibition space; others seem to refer to a kind of ‘cyber-urban’ architecture. Her titles rarely give any clues. They are rather a way for her to toy with the viewer’s perception and thus to keep our imagination away from one clear-cut meaning.

The materials she uses, such as concrete and clay, might appear cold and silent, but their aura is buzzing with potential, with layers of time, with an ambition and expectation for transformation. What Vinck desires to show is not the loss, but the beauty of what is temporary. Everything transforms into something new overtime, carrying layers of past lives. Her works are rarely finished constructions or singular monuments, but rather appeal to that translucid, ungraspable moment of transformation – the blurry instant of crossing meanings and concept.

Welcome back Frank Havermans.
At KEILECONTEMPORARY Frank will show a selection of his models which normally stay close to him at his studio.
These prototypes construct a world beyond architecture and urbanism. One could regard them as free spirits, constructs which open up the realm between thought and reality.
These intriguing models form the basis for his life size interventions.

Welcome at har. art gallery!

Har. is a contemporary art gallery with an emphasis on non-traditional, non-linear art. The gallery is founded by art collector/reporter and critic Harald van der Sluys Veer. Har. is his personal reflection on the works and artists he believes to be of value to the contemporary art-scene.

Har. will be a cross-over platform combining an online presence with real-time events such as exhibitions and studio visits.

Join us in our effort of sharing our personal insights on the captivating works and talents of these great artists with you!
