Keramiek

Vijfenveertig jaar terug ben ik met keramiek begonnen als hobby. Tijdens een paar cursussen werd ik gegrepen door het werken met klei. Sindsdien heb ik mij steeds verder verdiept en bekwaamd. Mijn keramische ontwikkeling kwam in een stroomversnelling door samen te gaan werken met een groep internationale keramisten in Amsterdam. We hebben meerdere jaren een collectief gevormd. Nu heb ik een eigen atelier aan huis. Inspiratie en kennis haal ik uit observaties in de natuur, boeken en tentoonstellingen maar vooral ook door zelf veel te experimenteren met diverse materialen. Ik maak vooral keramische beelden van porselein en sieraden van porselein en zilverklei.

Cil Laurens
Inkt drawings

Dutch artist Cil Laurens creates intricate ink drawings and paintings that invite you to wander rather than simply look. Much like following a rabbit hole into an unknown world, every artwork reveals itself slowly. What first appears to be a portrait may transform into a maze of patterns, symbols, memories, and fragments of nature.
Working primarily on wood, Cil Laurens embraces the material's imperfections, allowing its grain and texture to become part of the narrative. Using technical pens with exceptionally fine nibs, she patiently builds layer upon layer of detail until the image begins to develop a life of its own.
