A Mixed media painting on canvas.

Description:
"Enweghi Iku Ume,” meaning “Can’t Breathe” in Igbo, is a visceral exploration of suffocation, literal, emotional, and systemic. Through a layered field of turbulent loops and a twisted steel figure at its core, this piece speaks to the silent struggle for air, for voice, for survival in the face of overwhelming pressure.
The rigid steel body symbolizes the human form caught in forces it cannot control: oppression, violence, injustice, or mental suffocation. The painted background, alive with motion, becomes both a storm and a memory., breathless noise that threatens to consume.
Rooted in personal and collective realities, this work questions not just whether we can breathe, but who is allowed to, and at what cost.
