活动回顾- 冬至集市
“冬至大如年，人生小圆满。”
辗转中我们踏入了2023年的终点站，而提到年末，就不禁让人想起冬至。冬至，又称日南日、冬节、亚岁等，是中国民族的传统祭祖节日。随着地区变化，冬至习俗存在着一些细节上的差异，其不同之处最可提现于饮食文化上： 北方人钟爱饺子；而南方人喜食汤圆。
收到SCDS学生会邀请，华文学会参加了于2023年12月21日举办的校园集市活动。为了发扬中国传统节日，我们以冬至为活动主题，出售精致的文创产品及手工艺品，以及特色美食，其中就包括了汤圆。 我们还准备了投壶游戏，这游戏难度可不小！不少人都抓头懊恼，“愤恨”地看着自己不听话的手，场面生动又有趣。
一晚上的人潮可谓是络绎不绝，同学们对学会售卖的物品都表现了极大的兴趣。女孩们停在手工艺品区域，不亦乐乎地挑选自己喜爱的款式；而有的同学则是排好队，等着领取自己的许愿汤圆。
热呼呼的汤圆无法一口吞，只得吹一吹，小心翼翼咬一口。米面的香气混着芝麻的香甜瞬间迸发在口腔里，那一刻家的形象变得具体化。
有许多的人因各种各样的原因无法与家人团聚，共享喜乐，华文学会希望借助这次的集市活动，补缺人们思乡的小缺口，吃到了许愿汤圆，愿望都能如愿以偿，想家的愁绪也得已平复。
最后，以活动圆满结束之际，衷心感谢所有幕后的工作人员以及指导老师 Mr.Nigel 对此次活动注入的心血，还有来光顾摊位的同学们。我们下次再见，祝大家冬至快乐！
"The winter solstice – A Season for Year End Celebration."
As We are stepping towards the end of 2023, the Chinese custom celebrates the importance of winter solstice which is also known as Ri Nan Ri, Winter Festival, Yayoi, etc., is a traditional festival of ancestor worship. In various parts of the world, there may be some differences, mainly in the food culture: the northern people love dumplings; while the southern people like to eat soup dumplings.
This year, the Chinese Society was invited by the SCDS Student Council to participate in the December 21, 2023 Santa Town. In conjunction with this invitation, we promote the Winter Solstice as the theme of the event and sold cultural and exquisite products and handicrafts, as well as specialties, including soup dumplings. We also prepared a pot-throwing game, which added more excitement to it! Many students came to our booth to try their luck on the game to win mystery prizes.
The night was overwhelmed with crowd and students showed great interest in the items for sale. Girls stopped at the handicrafts area and had fun choosing their favorite items, while some students lined up and waited to buy bowls of “Wish-Come-True” soup dumplings. The dumplings were filled with sweet sesame that instantly melts in the mouth. For some of the students, this brought back childhood memories of their homeland far away.
We hope that this event has brought bring joy and meaning for those students who miss their families and parents who are unable to be here with them. The Chinese Society serves as a family and place for them to get together to support each other by providing food, games and love.
