L-Induratur- Rodney Buhagiar “I work with light, leaf, and texture to give surfaces a new story. Gilding is my way of capturing a quiet shimmer and turning it into something meaningful.

Each piece I create is a reflection of patience, intention, and a love for subtle glow.”

✨ A little piece of timeless elegance ✨
This stunning traditional maltese wall clock is a true work of art, with rich red and 23.5ct gold leaf detailing, ornate baroque-style carvings, and classic Roman numerals.
The hand-painted clock face features a beautiful historical church of St Helen, while the lower panel showcases decorative heraldic motifs above the pendulum window. A perfect blend of craftsmanship, history, and old-world charm. 🕰️💛

What started as bare wood has become something truly special. I poured creativity, care, and countless hours into transforming this piece — from raw timber to an elegant, gold-detailed masterpiece. Proof that with vision and passion, anything can be transformed.

Throwback to where it all began.

This small Maltese clock was the first gilding project I ever completed, created 6 years ago using the traditional water gilding technique.

The design features the façade of St Helena Basilica and the Crown of St Helen, elements deeply rooted in Maltese heritage and symbolism.

Looking back at this piece reminds me how my journey in gilding started—with patience, respect for tradition, and a deep love for detail. It’s always special to revisit the work that shaped the path I’m on today.

Thank you to everyone who has supported my craft over the years. More to come.

✨ Welcome to My Workshop of Maltese Craftsmanship ✨

Hello everyone!
I’m excited to finally open this space where I can share my passion for Maltese traditional clocks, gilding, and the beautiful heritage that inspires my work every day.

For years, I’ve been restoring and creating pieces that honour the elegance of our island’s past — from the graceful curves of l-Arloġġ Malti to the luminous finish only real gold leaf can give. Whether you’re here because you love local craftsmanship, want to learn something new, or simply enjoy seeing art come to life… you’re in the right place.

In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing:

🕰️ Behind-the-scenes looks at clock restoration and creation
🌟 Glimpses of the gilding process — from raw wood to glowing gold
🎨 Tips, stories, and techniques from my studio
📚 Details about upcoming courses for anyone who wants to learn this beautiful craft

Thank you for joining me on this journey. Your support means the world, and I can’t wait to build a community that celebrates Maltese heritage with creativity and heart
