Just like the sweetness attracts the senses, luxury objects created by consumer culture also attract us in the same way. They give a feeling of status and desire, but afterward they leave behind a sense of emptiness and craving. In today’s world, this cycle of wanting such objects—before and after getting them—is part of the system that controls our desires. Like sweetness that quickly fades, the shine of luxury objects also disappears once they are owned. What is left is not true satisfaction, but the need to repeat the act—wanting more and more. This work reflects on the idea of luxury, caught between beauty and trap, and the uneasiness of its impermanence.

පැණිරස, ප්‍රරසන්න ලෙස ඉන්ද්‍රියන් ආකර්ෂණය කරගන්නා ආකාරයටම ධනවාදී අර්ථීකය විසින් ගොඩනගන සුඛෝපභෝගී වස්තූන් ද ඒ හා සමාන ආකර්ෂණයක් දරයි. ඒවා ඉටුවීම, තත්ත්වය සහ ආශාව පිලිබඳ හැඟීමක් ඇති කරන අතරම හිස්බව සහ තෘෂ්ණාව පිළිබඳ පසු රසයක් ඉතිරි කරයි. මේ යුගයේ අපගේ ආශාව පාලනය කරන මෙවැනි වස්තුන් අප වෙත ලග කරගන්නාතුරුත් ඉන් පසුවත් මිනිසුන් කංසාවට පත් වීම මෙම යාන්ත්‍රණයේම කොටසකි. මිහිරි බව දියවී නැති වී යන ආකාරයටම, සුඛෝපභෝගී වස්තූන් අත්පත් කරගත් පසු ඒවායේ දීප්තිය අතුරුදහන් වේ. ඉතිරිව ඇත්තේ තෘප්තිය නොව පුනරාවර්තනයකි. එනම් තව තවත් පරිබෝජනය කරන්න යන ඉගියයි. මෙම කෘතිය සුන්දරත්වය සහ උගුල අතර දෝලනය වන සුඛෝපභෝගීත්වයේ මනඃකල්පිතය සහ එහි අනිත්‍යතාවයේ ආතතිය රඳවා ගනී.
