갤러리 무모 (Gallery MUMO)의 기획전 ‘Letter from New York’ 시리즈의 두번째 전시로 미국 뉴욕에서 활동하고 있는 사진 작가 및 설치 미술 작가인 강재석(a.k.a. Jason River/제이슨 리버) 작가의 한국 첫 개인전 “Tales: Destroy Boundaries!”를 10월 4일부터 개최합니다.

강재석(a.k.a. Jason River) 작가는 비현실적인 세계를 사실적으로 재현한 설치 미술과 그 속의 인간의 본연의 미를 보여주는 사진 작품을 통해 뉴욕에서 주목받고 있다. 2022년 권지안(솔비) 작가와의 협업을 통해 한국에도 자신의 시그니처인 “버블랩(Bubble Wrap)”을 이용한 작품을 알린 그는, 이번 전시에서 더욱 폭넓은 “버블랩 시리즈”를 선보일 예정이다.이번 기획전 “Tales: Destroy Boundaries!”에는 현실과 환상, 파괴와 창조, 그리고 인공적인 배경 속 인간의 본연의 미의 이야기를 볼 수 있는 그의 대형 작업 11점과 각 작품의 Behind Scene을 보여주는 소형 작업 11점이 전시될 예정이며, 특히 그의 신작 Bubble wrap no.35가 공개될 예정이다.

Jaiseok Kang (a.k.a. Jason River) who is a photographer and installation artist based in New York, USA, is attracting attention in New York through his installation art that realistically reproduces an unrealistic world, and his photography works that show the natural beauty of humans within it. He introduced his signature work “Bubble Wrap” to Korea through his collaboration with artist Kwon Ji-an (Solbi) in 2022 and plans to present a wider range of “Bubble Wrap Series” in this exhibition.
