This site-specific installation explores a space where reality and fantasy intersect.

メディアアーティスト莊 禾［チュアン・ホー〕がgallery Unfold より神戸六甲ミーツアート2026 beyond に出展します！

一週間の集中制作を経て､いよいよ公開を迎えます！今回の会場は旧六甲スカイヴィラの大浴場♨️

山、海、湧水、生き物など、さまざまな環境要素と作品の世界が重なり合う、サイトスペシフィックな作品となっています。

8月29日より一般公開です！ぜひご来場ください｡

Media artist CHUANG Ho, presented by gallery Unfold, will be exhibiting at Rokko Meets Art 2026 beyond in Kobe!

After an intensive week of production, the work is finally ready to be unveiled! The exhibition venue is the former Rokko Sky Villa’s large public bath ♨️

The site-specific work brings together various environmental elements—including the mountains, sea, spring water, and living creatures—allowing them to overlap and intertwine with the world of the artwork.

The exhibition opens to the public on August 29. We look forward to welcoming you!

本だけでなく、読書という行為に内在する「リズム」に着目し、映像、インスタレーション、パフォーマンスなど、多様な作品を紹介します。フランス、ドイツ、台湾、日本のアーティストが参加。アーティストそれぞれの「本」へのユニークなアプローチを、ぜひ会場でご覧ください！

Rather than focusing solely on books, this exhibition explores the “rhythm” inherent in the act of reading through a diverse range of works, including video, installation, and performance. Artists from France, Germany, Taiwan, and Japan are participating in the exhibition. We invite you to discover each artist’s unique approach to the “book” and experience the exhibition for yourself.

Rhythm -アーティストブック展📚最終週！！

上田佳奈《On the Same Page》本展にあわせて制作した映像インスタレーションを公開中！！

本作のタイトルである「On the Same Page」 は、本のページという物理的な存在に由来しつつ、「同じページを見ている＝同じ情報を共有している」ことから転じて、意見や認識が一致していることを指す英語の慣用句です｡本書では、この言葉を文字通りの意味に立ち返り、本や読書の本質について考察します｡

おもて面には紙束から1ページずつめくっていく様子が、うら面にはページを1枚ずつ積み重ねていく様子が、時系列で記録されています｡読者がページをめくるたびに、映像に示された行為を追体験し、紙が束の中で移動していく過程を身体的に実感します｡この本は、読書とは紙を動かし、積み重ねていくという、きわめて物理的な行為であることを再認識させる装置です｡

The title of this work, On the Same Page, derives from the physical existence of a book page while also referring to the English idiom “to be on the same page,” meaning to share the same information and, by extension, to have the same understanding or be in agreement.

In this book, the phrase is taken back to its literal meaning as a starting point for considering the essence of books and reading.

On the front side, the process of turning the pages one by one from a stack of paper is recorded chronologically. On the back side, the process of stacking the pages one by one is similarly documented. As readers turn the pages, they physically reenact the actions shown in the images and experience, through their own bodies, the process by which each sheet of paper moves within the stack.

This book functions as a device that invites us to reconsider reading as an intensely physical act: the act of moving

アーティスト紹介 About the Artist

松田幹也
1949年鹿児島県生まれ。京都在住。1972年立教大学卒業後渡米。1976年頃からアート活動を始め、1981年にはソーホーの路上でネジを用いたパフォーマンス、1988年にはウォール街で1万枚のペニー硬貨を正方形に並べるパフォーマンス《10,000コイン / イコン》を発表した。文字の反復や集積を通して、「コトバ遊び」を主題とする作品群を展開している。

主な発表歴に、Art Osaka 2024 Expanded Section（大阪、2024年）、MORI YU GALLERY（京都、2023年）、ATM Gallery NYC（ニューヨーク、2005年）、P.S.1（ニューヨーク、1980年）など。

Mikiya Matsuda
Born in Kagoshima in 1949. Currently based in Kyoto. After graduating from Rikkyo University in 1972, Matsuda moved to the United States. Around 1976, Matsuda began his artistic practice, presenting a performance using screws on the streets of SoHo in 1981, followed by 10,000 Coins / Icons (1988), a performance in which 10,000 penny coins were arranged into a square on Wall Street. Through the repetition and accumulation of letters and words, he has developed a body of work centered on the theme of "wordplay." 

Selected exhibitions and presentations include Art Osaka 2024 Expanded Section (Osaka, 2024), MORI YU GALLERY (Kyoto, 2023), ATM Gallery NYC (New York, 2005), and P.S.1 (New York, 1980).

Rhythm – Artist’s Book Exhibition – is now on view!

読書とは、知的な営みであると同時に、身体的な行為でもあります。アーティストブックがアナログであれデジタルであれ、それらを読むという行為は、身体と精神が織りなす一つの振付です。

松田幹也は、長年にわたり一貫したコンセプチュアルなアプローチを通して、言語そのものへ繊細な眼差しを向けてきました。言葉が結びつき意味を形成していく速度は、読者によって導かれると同時に、読者自身をも導いていきます。松田の実践において重要な要素である「反復」は、ひとりひとりの読者の中で異なるかたちで立ち現れ、一つの言葉を、脈動をもつ複数の出来事へと広げていきます。

Reading is simultaneously an intellectual activity and a physical process. Whether the material—in our case, the artist's book—is analogous or digital, the act of reading is a choreography of the mind and body.

Mikiya Matsuda brings a refined focus to language through a long-established conceptual approach. The reader guides, and is simultaneously guided by, the tempo through which words connect to form meaning. Repetition, an essential element of Matsuda’s practice, comes alive uniquely for every individual, expanding a single text into a series of distinct, pulsating events.

アーティスト紹介 About the Artist

劉 思妤〔リウ・スーユー〕 szuyu liu
1987年台北生まれ。台湾国立陽明交通大学大学院応用芸術研究科を卒業後、ブックメイキングとグラフィックデザインを軸に活動している。 紙や本を空間的な構造として用い、時間、テクスト、感情をめぐるナラティブの実験を行っている。非線形の読書構造を通して、ページをめくるたびに異なる距離感や解釈が生まれる読書体験を探求している。近年は、世界各地のアートブックフェアで作品を発表している。 2023年より、祖父母の旧宅を拠点に PLACE O を立ち上げ、紙の上の概念的な空間を現実の場へと展開している。多様なアーティストの作品を紹介するとともに、対話と思想の交換を促すプラットフォームの創出を目指している。

Szuyu Liu szuyu liu 
Born in 1987 in Taipei. Graduated from the Institute of Applied Arts at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and currently works in bookmaking and graphic design. 

Liu’s work uses paper and books as spatial structures to conduct narrative experiments that explore time, text, and emotion. By creating nonlinear reading structures, she seeks to generate multiple distances and interpretations as readers turn the pages. In recent years, she has primarily presented her work through participation in various art book fairs in the world.

Since 2023, she has used her grandparents' former house as the base for PLACE O , transforming the conceptual space of paper into a physical venue. Through this project, she seeks to create a platform for exhibiting the work of diverse artists while fostering dialogue and the exchange of ideas.

言葉の空間的な配置によって意味を生み出す劉 思妤〔リウ・スーユー〕は、リズムに対する触覚的なアプローチを提示します。読者は両手を使って印刷された言葉を並べ替えることで、単に意味を組み替えるだけではなく、自らの眼と手が同期しながら動く、その身体的なリズムを意識することになります。

“Rhythm -Artist’s Book Exhibition” now on view! The exhibition invites readers to move beyond the quiet, solitary act of reading toward an active experience shaped by rhythm, movement, and interaction.

Playing with the spatial arrangement of words to shape meaning, Szuyu Liu offers a tactile approach to rhythm. By using both hands to shuffle printed words, the reader does not merely rearrange semantic messages—they bring to light the personal, synchronised tempo of their own eyes and hands in motion.
