Discovering one's own "form" is deeply meaningful and fascinating, yet it can also be a source of struggle.
There is indeed something in the realm of creation that can only be discovered by gazing steadfastly without ever giving up. He has taken that first step.
⚫︎Here are Matthis's impressions.⚫︎
When I came to Gansen, I expected to learn traditional urushi techniques. However, my time there gave me something far more valuable. It introduced me to the philosophy of urushi, as well as the way of thinking of Onishi Sensei and Fukuta Izumi-san. It allowed me to take my first steps into the world of urushi while realizing how vast it truly is and how limitless its possibilities for expression can be.

⚫︎お椀（内:黒漆塗立、外:さび漆による装飾）
⚫︎技法習得 黒呂色磨き手板
⚫︎乾漆 水差し、オブジェ
⚫︎技法研究手板 変塗り（根来塗り,しぼ漆,サビ塗り,へぎを生かした変塗り)
自分自身の「形」を見出すことは、とても意義深く、面白いことであり、悩ましい。
創造の領域には、決して諦めずにじっと見つめ続けることによってのみ発見できる何かが確かに存在する。彼はその第一歩を踏み出した。
⚫︎Matthis からの研修の感想⚫︎
「願船（Gansen）」を訪れた際、私は伝統的な漆の技法を学ぶことを期待していました。しかし、そこで過ごした時間はそれ以上に価値あるものを私にもたらしてくれました。漆という素材が持つ哲学や、大西先生、そして福多いずみさんの考え方に触れることができたのです。漆の世界の広大さや、その表現の可能性が無限であることを実感しながら、私はこの世界への第一歩を踏み出すことができました。
