印象派、とりわけルノワールの色彩を日本に持ち帰った画家たちの中でも、山下新太郎（1881～1966）は最も誠実で、落ち着きと潤いのある作品を残しました。明るい色彩と柔らかな筆致で描かれた20号の《藤》には、草花の繊細な動きの中に心地よい風が感じられます。傍らを流れる小川が画面に奥行きを与え、いつまでも眺めていたくなるような、風光る季節の風景が広がっています。

Among the artists who brought the spirit of Impressionism—and in particular Renoir’s luminous palette—to Japan, Shintaro Yamash*ta left behind some of the most sincere, serene, and richly nuanced works.
Painted in bright colors and with a gentle touch, Wisteria (20-go size) conveys the sensation of a pleasant breeze through the delicate movement of its flowers and foliage. A small stream flowing beside the scene lends depth to the composition, unfolding into a sunlit seasonal landscape that invites the viewer to linger and contemplate it endlessly.

●中嶋草太「TANE series -捻れ種-」
　陶土、灰、釉薬

一貫して「生命の循環」を軸とした陶磁器による作品制作を続けています。
地球の循環の中で生成されてきた土をつかい、動物の骨や植物の種子など、始まりと終わりを示唆する形態や生き物からインスピレーションを受け造形しています。土の中に眠る生命の記憶を掘り起こすような感覚で制作した作品を通して、想いを巡らすきっかけになればと思っております。（中嶋草太）

●小俣花名「春巻き（ご馳走）」
　中川麻紙・墨　12M

今後のアートを見渡す上で必須と思われる、東アジアのアイデンティティの一つでもある墨を用い、作家の身近な「今」を描き出す。特筆すべきはその造形で、現代を生きる我々にとって極めて身近な漫画的造形を平面鑑賞絵画に昇華できている点である。ごく自然に、身近な「今」をよく観察しよく描き込み、今に生きる我々にとっての身近な漫画的造形で描き出している。そしてその濃密な描き込みの奥には、独特の温かみのある人間への眼差しがあり、観るものを飽きさせることがない。

●魏嘉「collection：! 」
　オイルパステル、レジン、キャンバス　30F

近年の「真に力がある作品」を生み出す画家の登竜門となっている” FACE ” (SOMPO美術財団) にてグランプリを受賞した期待の作家である。台湾出身の魏が描く作品は、アクリルやパステル、エアブラシなどを用いた柔らかな色合いと余白が織りなす余韻が心地よい。絵画以外にも小説や映画に影響を受けつつ、その世界観を広げていく魏の作品には作家ならではのユニークな「今」が明確に投影されている。

1978 年北海道苫小牧市生まれ。2004 年多摩美術大学大学院美術研究科修了。
