藍住町地域起こし協力隊隊員による藍粉成しが始まりました！
藍染料づくりで最初の工程となる「藍粉成し」は、畑で刈り取った藍の葉を乾燥させる作業で、「すくも」と呼ばれる藍染めの染料をつくる最初の工程です。
刈り取った藍を、裁断機に入れて５センチほどの大きさに刻んだあと、大型の扇風機で風を送り、葉の部分だけを飛ばして茎とより分けます。
屋外にある作業場の床一面に葉を敷きつめ、乾燥にむらが出ないように平らに広げます。
藍の葉は、天日干しで２日ほど乾燥させたあと、葉を発酵させる作業が行われる９月まで保存されます。
「藍粉成し」の作業は９月いっぱい行われます。

The first step in making indigo dye, "preparing indigo powder," involves drying the indigo leaves harvested from the fields.
This is the first step in creating the indigo dye called "sukumo." After the harvested indigo is cut into pieces about 5 centimeters in size using a cutting machine, a large fan is used to blow air onto the leaves, separating them from the stems.
The leaves are spread across the floor of the outdoor workshop and flattened to ensure even drying.
The indigo leaves are dried in the sun for about two days and then stored until September, when the leaves are fermented.
The "preparing indigo powder" process will continue throughout September.
