Lucia Orlando — inaugurazione 18 settembre, Swann Art Gallery

Il 18 settembre Swann Art Gallery apre le porte a Less is more, mostra fotografica personale di Lucia Orlando.

Nelle immagini di Orlando lo sguardo si allena alla sottrazione: ogni scatto trattiene l'essenziale e lascia che il resto si ritiri, in un linguaggio fotografico che fa della rinuncia una forma di precisione.

Mies van der Rohe l'aveva già intuito in architettura. Wittgenstein, nel silenzio che chiude il Tractatus, ne aveva colto l'eco filosofica: ciò che non può dirsi va taciuto, non ignorato. Il minimalismo — dal monocromo di Reinhardt ai volumi essenziali di Judd — non è assenza, è concentrazione: un pieno che si è liberato del superfluo per lasciare emergere la cosa stessa.

Durante il periodo espositivo, Swann Art Gallery accompagnerà il pubblico con incontri ed eventi dedicati a questo tema, tra poesia, filosofia, arte e fotografia.

Wittgenstein, in the silence that concludes the *Tractatus*, grasped its philosophical echo: that which cannot be spoken of must be passed over in silence—not ignored. Minimalism—from Reinhardt’s monochromes to Judd’s essential forms—is not absence; it is concentration: a fullness that has shed the superfluous to let the thing itself emerge. Ryo Kato non è un capitolo isolato. È un tassello di un'identità che Swann Art Gallery da tempo costruisce tenendo insieme due tensioni che molte volte si respingono: la cura della forma e l'urgenza del pensiero. Nel suo lavoro l'estetica non consola, non chiude il discorso: apre una domanda sul presente, su come lo guardiamo prima ancora che su cosa vediamo. Non è la società a essere messa in scena, ma il nostro modo di conoscerla: lo sguardo che seleziona, che inquadra, che decide cosa contare come reale. È qui che l'opera diventa politica: non nel contenuto dichiarato, ma nell'atto stesso della visione, interrogato dall'interno.

Ryo Kato is not an isolated chapter. He is a piece of an identity that Swann Art Gallery has long been building by holding together two forces that often repel one another: a meticulous attention to form and the urgency of thought. In his work, aesthetics offer no solace and provide no definitive conclusion; instead, they open up a question about the present—about *how* we look at it, even before *what* we see. It is not society itself that is staged, but rather our way of knowing it: the gaze that selects, frames, and decides what counts as real. This is where the work becomes political—not in its explicit content, but in the very act of seeing, interrogated from within.
