We're grateful to Italian Insider for featuring Associazione Benàch APS (Historical Research 1914-1945) and the work behind With Love, Billy, our documentary exploring the life, legacy, and final days of Brig. Gen. William O. Darby in Italy.
This project has connected us with veterans, military families,
historians, and friends around the world—including the 10th Mountain Division community and the families of those who served here. We're especially thankful to those who have shared memories, photographs, and support along the way.
A special thank you to Jeff Struecker for visiting Torbole and lending his voice to this important story.

NAGO-TORBOLE, Italy — A U.S. Army Ranger veteran travelled this week to northern Italy to stand at the site where Brig. Gen. William O. Darby, founder of the modern U.S. Army Ranger Regiment, was killed during the final days of World War II.

🎬 Action in Torbole!
15 historical WWII vehicles rolled into Piazza Lietzmann with 25 re-enactors — and the cameras were rolling! 🪖🎥
Thanks to the incredible Vivere La Storia Associazione culturale, and to every single re-enactor who brought history back to life, the square of Torbole became a real film set.
Executive Producers Antonella Previdi and Ben Appleby from the Associazione Benàch APS(Historical Research 1914-1945) and directors Elena Goatelli and Angel Esteban captured some powerful scenes for our documentary "With Love, Billy", dedicated to General William O. Darby, who fell right here in Torbole on April 30, 1945. 🕊️
