Timothy Hyman.
Painter, mentor, and friend, I first met you when I was still a student at the Slade, you were teaching there a course on the grotesque, with you I first read Rabelais.
You are one of the greatest persons I have ever met, a milestone in my life. Every time we met you were working at some fascinating project: a painting, a book, a show. Conversations with you were a pleasure, something to look for, something to learn from.
The last time we met was in 2019, you invited me to participate to the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy.
This picture was taken then.
Thank you for everything.
Rest in peace dear Tim, together with your beloved Judith, you’ll be strongly missed.

At times I wake up and there is not much space left for me in the bed.. I guess is time to wake up!!!

In 2019 I painted the first jungle. I was fascinated by the architectural structure with which nature grows, but also its shapes, lights and shadows. For the first time I never felt altering my subject, I paint plants in the best of my ways just as I see them.

I wanted as a title for this exhibition Respiro Selvaggio, literally Wild Breath.
I thought it could be left in italian, its original language, with an english or french translation in brackets, but I didn’t find any support, not even within my family, everyone said, it is not going to be understood.. only my
Belle-mère, Anna Paparatti, was enchanted by it.
I wish I had asked her first, since the more I think of it the more I like Respiro Selvaggio!

Dear Friends,
On June 12, h 17:00-20:00, opens my solo show at Montoro12 Contemporary in Brussels.
Is a large exhibition consisting of as many as 27 works, several of which are large-format. Among these also "Nature within Nature", a pictorial installation conceived for the new space designed by Fabio Sargentini, Casa Ulivo, in the middle of the Umbrian countryside, and exhibited for the first time in the summer of 2023. It marked my passage to the 50’s, it still bears the signs of the weather!
