A greener museum begins with the people who care for it every day. ♻️🌱

On 24th September, our housekeeping and security teams participated in a Waste Management Sensitisation & Behavioural Training workshop led by Rereeti under the Museum Futures initiative.

Focused on waste segregation and sustainable practices in daily museum operations, the session aimed to empower our front-facing staff to make sustainability part of their everyday work.

Together, we’re building a culture of care—for our museum, our communities, and the environment.

Marking the birthday of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the inauguration of the programme, Deepotsav brought together the museum, local administration, and the community in a shared celebration of light and togetherness.

Over 1,500 locally sourced earthen diyas illuminated the museum, creating a meaningful connection between the institution and the society around it. The celebration also highlighted the importance of sustainable practices, with traditional earthen lamps chosen to support local craftsmanship and mindful festivities.

A celebration where heritage, community, and sustainability came together in the glow of a thousand lights. 🪔

A dedicated gallery interprets the Ambaghat excavation site, seamlessly linking the museum experience with the live archaeological landscape outside.

The journey begins with an immersive 3D film that reconstructs life at the site, translating excavation data into visual narratives. Visitors then walk across a scaled model of Ambaghat, interacting with digital applications that reveal stories embedded within the excavated structures.

Short films and interactive displays explain the scientific process of archaeology—from excavation and documentation to interpretation—making complex methodologies accessible to visitors.

The experience is anchored by original artefacts from the site, reinforcing the connection between narrative and material evidence. This gallery acts as a preparatory space, equipping visitors with the knowledge needed to engage meaningfully with the actual excavation site, which they can then explore firsthand.

Standing gracefully beside Sharmishtha Lake, the Kirti Toran is a remarkable testament to Vadnagar’s architectural heritage. Dating back to the 12th century, these magnificent sandstone gateways are among the few surviving examples of the ceremonial toranas that once adorned Gujarat during the Solanki period.

Rising nearly 40 feet, the torans showcase the extraordinary skill of their craftsmen. Every surface reveals intricate carvings, from geometric patterns and delicate floral motifs to sculpted figures and ornamental details that bring the stone to life. Their richly carved arches and finely articulated pillars reflect a deep understanding of proportion, balance, and decorative artistry.

More than an architectural landmark, the Kirti Toran embodies the enduring relationship between craftsmanship and cultural memory—where every curve, carving, and carefully shaped stone carries forward a story of Vadnagar’s glorious past.

A timeless expression of heritage, etched in stone. 🏛️

**Where archaeology unfolds through light, sound, and immersive storytelling.**

Across the galleries, projection mapping, timed shows, and layered audiovisual elements come together to create dynamic storytelling environments. Soundscapes, narration, and interactive media invite visitors to engage with history through multiple sensory channels—transforming the act of looking into an experience of discovery.

Scenographic lighting further strengthens the language of archaeology, guiding visitors through layers of time and shaping the journey from one story to the next. Carefully composed to complement the architecture and displays, the lighting directs attention back to where it belongs: the artefacts themselves.

Here, technology does not overshadow history—it becomes a medium through which the past can be experienced, understood, and remembered.
