On September 1, an expedition led by Robert Ballard and Jean-Louis Michel located the wreck nearly 3,800 metres below the surface, capturing the first images of the Titanic since her sinking in 1912. 🌊

It’s always special when descendants of Titanic passengers visit us in Cobh — and this time, we were delighted to welcome relatives of Mary Agatha Glynn. ❤️

Born in Co. Clare in 1893, Mary boarded the Titanic at Queenstown as a third-class passenger, travelling to Washington, D.C., to join her cousin.

🎟️ Ticket No. 335677 — £7 15s
🚢 Survived aboard Lifeboat 13

Mary shared a cabin with three other Irish girls and survived the sinking alongside them. She later settled in Washington, D.C., where she married and raised her family.

In 2026, her story came full circle as her relatives returned to Cobh and visited the place where Mary’s Titanic journey began.

We’re so lucky to welcome families who keep these stories alive. 💙

We were delighted to welcome Eugene Collins, the great-great-grandnephew of Titanic survivor Eugene Daly, to Titanic Experience Cobh.

Eugene Daly was a third-class passenger from Cobh and an avid uilleann pipe player. He survived the sinking of the Titanic and was rescued by the Carpathia after reaching a collapsible.

During his visit, Eugene Collins shared a fascinating family story with us. His mother had known Eugene Daly and told him that, before jumping into the water, Daly had drunk an entire bottle of wh***ey — something the family believed may have helped save his life.

The family also kept Daly’s “lucky coat”, which he credited with helping him survive, and a White Star Line ticket that was still in one of its pockets.

It was a pleasure to hear these personal family stories and connect with a descendant of one of Titanic’s survivors. ❤️

We were honoured to welcome renowned Titanic researcher Bill Willard to Titanic Experience Cobh.

With nearly 50 years dedicated to Titanic research, Bill is one of the world's leading experts on the ship and its legacy. In 1998, he was part of the expedition that recovered "The Big Piece," the largest section of the Titanic ever raised from the ocean floor. He has completed two dives to the wreck, designed the pioneering T-REX ROV, leads Project Name Them All to identify unnamed Titanic victims buried in Halifax, and is the author of Our Story, which chronicles the famous 1998 expedition.

A passionate advocate for preserving the Titanic as both a historic site and a memorial, Bill continues to inspire the Titanic community through his research, writing, and annual TitanicCon conference.

Thank you for visiting us, Bill—it was a privilege to welcome you to the last port of call. 🚢
