This years Boyne Valley Trails Festival is bursting with new guided tours and outdoor adventures. We are especially delighted to welcome Drogheda Food Tours, who will be hosting 3 events as part of the festival on 12th, 13th and 19th of September.

On this culinary adventure we invite you to sip, snack, and stroll your way through the heart of Drogheda on a flavour-packed food tour. We’ll start with a glass of something special at Scholars Townhouse Hotel before winding through the town’s tastiest corners.

Have you ever wanted to walk the Boyne Camino? Back by popular demand for this years Boyne Valley Trails September Festival we are taking you on a guided experience of the stunning 25km loop walk of the Boyne Valley Camino.

Officially part of the Celtic Camino series in A Coruna, Spain, the Boyne Valley Camino loops around some of the Boyne Valley's most iconic heritage sites before circling past the Battle of the Boyne site and returning to Drogheda town centre.

Join us on 20th September to close out the festival and collect your official Camino stamps along the route. Tickets for this and all our other events are available at boynevalleytrails.ie

More than a walk on the beach! Learn the basics of Nordic Walking with or without nordic poles on a guided walk perfect for beginners.

Join Nordic Walking guide Martina Boyne Nordic Walks on 12th September as she teaches us the basics of Nordic walking and how the technique and use of Nordic poles combines to turn your average walk into a full “workout in a walk”, suitable for all levels. We will venture along the headland of Clogherhead, with its panoramic views of Ireland’s East Coast from the Mourne and Cooley mountains to Lambay Island.

We are very excited about this one.

We have been looking to expand the Boyne Valley Trails Festival into other outdoor adventures and wellness activities-so we were so thrilled when Max of Four Shore Adventures wanted to take part with this amazing stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) experience along the meandering River Nanny.

Max will be running a SUP tour every day from 12th to 18th September, as part of this years festival. This adventure is perfect for beginners and offers a unique view of some of the most stunning landscapes in the Boyne Valley.

Tara is an incredible place, the heart of mythology and history in the Boyne Valley.

As part of the Boyne Valley Trails September Festival, we are delighted to welcome back Anthony of Mythical Ireland who will lead his popular "Myths and Legends of the Hill of Tara" tour on 19th September. Anthony will tell us about the earliest kingship myths of Tara, and some of the strange and various means by which the future kings were foretold.

"Autumn in the Boyne Valley is just magical-there is nowhere like it."

Nordic Walking might be a gentle workout but its also an incredible opportunity to explore the Boyne Valley, its history, nature and beauty. On 19th September, as part of our Boyne Valley Trails September Festival, join Nordic Walking leader Martina Boyne Nordic Walks on a unique walk combining fitness, nature and local history in the heart of the Boyne Valley.

You can complete this walk with or without Nordic poles, we will have some to provide or you may bring your own.

History Tour-“Stamullen, Monastic Site, Medieval Church & Graveyard” with Community Historian Brendan Matthews as part of this years Boyne Valley Trails Festival.

On 13th September step back over 1,000 years into the heart of Early Christian and medieval Ireland in the peaceful setting of Steach Maoilín (Stamullen).
This will be a fascinating guided walk through one of County Meath’s hidden historic treasures. Explore the atmospheric ruins of St Patrick’s Medieval Parish Church and the adjoining 15th-century St Christopher’s Chapel, home to magnificent medieval monuments and a remarkable collection of rare carved tombstones.
