Before she became the most famous ship in history… she was a dream taking shape in steel.

From towering cranes and thousands of hardworking hands to the final touches along the slipway, these construction images capture the birth of the RMS Titanic ⛴ — a ship built to inspire awe across the world.

On this day, the Titanic was launched in Belfast before thousands of spectators, marking the beginning of a journey that would become part of history forever.

More than a ship.

A symbol of innovation, hope, and human ambition. ✨

"My name is Brett Gladstone, great-great-grandson of Isidor and Ida Straus…”

With those powerful words, history suddenly felt deeply personal.
Not a story from a book.
Not a scene from a film.
But the voice of a family still carrying the memory of two people whose love became one of Titanic’s most unforgettable legacies. ❤️⚓

We were truly honoured to welcome Brett, the great-great-grandson of Isidor and Ida Straus to Titanic’s Last Port of Call in Cobh — a moving reminder that the stories of Titanic continue to live on through generations.

As the Titanic sank into the icy Atlantic, Ida Straus was offered a place in a lifeboat. She refused to leave her husband behind, saying the words that would echo through history forever:

“We have lived together for many years. Where you go, I go.”

Witnesses recalled the couple remaining together until the very end — choosing love, loyalty, and devotion over fear.

More than a century later, their story still touches hearts around the world… and standing in the very place where 123 Titanic journeys began makes those memories feel closer than ever. 💔

May 7th, 1915

The sinking of the RMS Lusitania became one of the most shocking maritime tragedies of the 20th century.

This iconic British ocean liner, owned by the prestigious Cunard Line, was built to dominate the lucrative transatlantic passenger trade. Launched in 1907, Lusitania quickly became celebrated as the world’s fastest and largest ship... a symbol of luxury, innovation, and maritime excellence.

But off the coast of Ireland, tragedy struck when a German U-boat torpedoed the ship, causing it to sink in just 18 minutes. The disaster claimed 1,197 lives, including 128 Americans, and would help shape the course of world history.

Today, the Lusitania Memorial in Cobh stands in quiet remembrance of those who never returned home, forever connecting our harbour to one of history’s most defining moments at sea.🌊✨🛳️
