Cretan Landscape Paintings Hi, my name is Frans van Vlerken. My hobbies are painting and writting and here I am sharing my paintings.

In 1977, I fell in love with Crete during my 1st 6 months stay.
6 years later I settled permanently in Makrialos and became a farmer.

Good afternoon my dear friends and followers. The first painting I want to share with you today is not a classical Cretan landscape.
You could call it though a landscape of a city culture.
This painting tries to express the situation of a man going home in the middle of the night. He's alone. He's drunk. Has his prick under his arm. And then he stops in the middle of an empty street
and starts a conversation. With a stranger? With himself?

Gallery on the Beach. First time in Makrialos harbor.

Kalispera my dear friends and followers.
Today I start with a novelty. For me as well as for ' Gallery on the
Beach '. Last tuesday evening it was for the first time that the Gallery exposed some of its paintings out in the open air. Under the stars and the free sky of Makrialos.
On the Gallery board some of my mini's are shown. On the board on the left you can see another work of mine. The booklet
'51 Mantinades'. It contains images of my watercolors combined with translated Cretan rhymes.

For those of you who want to see my paintings live, 'Gallery on the beach' - my workshop at home- is also open for visitors.

Evening sky on Makrialos. Watercolor 70-50cm.

Here I have for you an autumn painting. After the first rains we get, on this part of the island , the most beautifull sunsets.
This one shows the harbor head of Makrialos. From an open field that does not exist anymore. Roughly from there where ' to Chani '
used to be. My favorite ' Stammtisch- taverna ' for a few decades.

Now that we are pushing towards the centre of the summer,
Mariaday, and the whole of sunny, but sinny Makrialos has turned into a madhouse, I like to share with you some more of my mini paintings.
