Before wardrobes became common in the villages of Corfu, the traditional wooden storage chest was an essential piece of furniture. 🪵

Dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, the wooden chests displayed in our museum were used to store clothing, rugs, and household linens. Their sturdy construction and flat tops meant they could also be used as benches or extra seating, making them a practical and multifunctional part of everyday village life.

Today, these wooden chests help us understand how people in Corfu's villages lived and organised their homes in the past. 🏡
