ARTIST SPOTLIGHT | MARY GRIGORYAN
Meet Mary Grigoryan
an Armenian artist living and creating in Hanoi, Vietnam. Her practice centres around vibrant, multilayered surreal collages, combining photography, abstract drawings, everyday elements, figures, textures and symbolism.
Mary explores the boundaries between the real and the imaginary, creating compositions filled with unexpected combinations, expressive imagery and multiple layers to discover.
Her fascination with the eye as a connection between the outer and inner worlds appears throughout her practice. She is interested in what we see, what we choose not to see, and how the same image or symbol can hold different meanings for different viewers.
Rather than giving the viewer a single interpretation, Mary leaves space to explore the work, follow its details and create their own connection with the image.
In this carousel, discover Identity Inside Out, Resting Impermanence or to Rest in Permanence..?, and Playful Madness three works that reflect Mary’s distinctive approach to surreal collage, where imagery, texture and symbolism come together to create layered visual worlds.
