Most of my days are spent in the studio, where not a day passes without work or creativity. Because of this, I don’t visit the gallery as often as people might imagine.

When I do come and see so many of my paintings gathered in one place, I sometimes find it difficult to believe that I created them all.

Today, there was something special about the light. It felt as though the works were speaking to me. Standing among them filled me with new emotions and inspiration—and strengthened my belief that there are still many new and interesting works waiting to be created.

My first art commission came from my father when I was twelve years old.

He was also an artist, and I helped him by painting five portraits for one of his projects. Instead of paying me with money, he gave me something far more precious to me at the time: a box of 42 Panda oil pastels.

I spent the entire day simply looking at all those colours. I later used those same pastels to create my graduation work at art school—and decades later, I still have the original box.

Some objects preserve more than memories. They carry the moment a lifelong journey began.

Do you remember your first commission—or the first time someone truly valued your creativity?

After Us — Inna Orlik Explains the Meaning Behind Her Painting

Although the work confronts humanity’s ability to destroy, its central message is one of faith and hope: that something infinite will remain, life will begin again, and future generations may become wiser through the mistakes of those who came before them.

“After Us” is available for private viewing at Orlik Gallery in Athens, Greece.

Step inside “Santorini Sunset” by Inna Orlik.

A painting that captures the quiet moment when the island begins to change — the sea holding the last colors of the day, the village glowing with warmth, and the light turning into memory.

More than a landscape, it feels like a place we have loved before.

Before the ocean takes shape.

In this intimate studio moment, artist Inna Orlik begins a new ocean-inspired painting, building the first foundation of the artwork before the details and final forms appear.

At this stage, the painting is still open. The colors move freely, the shapes begin to suggest themselves, and the imagined ocean world slowly starts coming to life.

For Inna Orlik, the beginning of a painting is a moment of complete freedom, no strict lines, no fixed boundaries, only movement, intuition, and the quiet dialogue between the artist and the canvas.

A new original artwork is beginning.

In this excerpt from an upcoming Artist Talk, artist Inna Orlik reflects on one of the most rewarding aspects of her work: hearing collectors share how her paintings continue to reveal new details and meanings long after they enter their spaces.
