In aid of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - come and support local artist Katy Clasby Art Exhibition ‘The Conflict Within’ @ The Farnham Pottery.

The exhibition is an immersive visual and audio journey that takes you through the issues surrounding PTSD in different mediums, which is both thought provoking and visually impactful.

As a charity initiative, Katy's work is purposefully affordable and a percentage of all proceeds will be donated to a deserving organisation using progressive techniques to bring PTSD sufferers from the dark into the light.

A huge THANK YOU from Peter and me for all the wonderful people who made our first year at The Farnham Pottery such a success! The performers, the audience, our behind-the-scenes warriors and of course Guy and Elaine for providing such a fabulous space. Here's a quick recap of all the artists who appeared in 2018. Yet more thanks to the various photographers including Daniel Cook, Tom O'Donoghue, Rob Blackham, Phil Mitchell and many more whose libraries I plundered to fill in the photographic gaps. Have a great New Year, see you all again in 2019. Jim x

THE SEEING EYE - JACQUI HURST PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION
7 NOVEMBER - 7 DECEMBER Private View Sat 25 Nov 5 - 7pm
WORKSHOP - TAKING INSPIRATION FROM THE POTTERY
With award-winning photographer Jacqui Hurst –
SAT 25 NOVEMBER 10am - 4pm
Jacqui Hurst has a stunning set of images on display in the Kiln Room Gallery at the Farnham Pottery, as part of a six photographer exhibition, running until 7 December.
Jacqui is providing a one day Workshop for a limited number of students on Saturday 25 November. This will be suitable for the amateur armed with a smart phone through to the experienced photographer with the most sophisticated SLR.
Jacqui will inspire with her insights into composition and capturing light. She looks to frame the finished photograph shot in real time and not rely on post processing. She will use the textures and historic features of the Pottery to instruct in her approach to capturing the essence of a subject. Not just looking but truly seeing.
We are privileged to have Jacqui give this Workshop at the Pottery - she is a marvellous teacher and regularly gives courses at West Dean College, Flatford Mill as well as leading groups to France and Morocco.
The workshop cost is £60 and includes lunch.
To book please go to [email protected] or phone Guy on 07879 667000

FARNHAM POTTERY ARTS: Six Photographic artists, headlined by the award-winning Jacqui Hurst, explore, celebrate & comment on the environment around them.
Opening Friday 10 November 6 – 8pm FREE EVENT
Exhibition 7 November – 7 December Tues-Sat 9am-4pm
Jacqui Hurst heads up this extensive photographic exhibition with her beautifully considered horticultural images and wisely guides us in the teaching of not just looking, but truly seeing. This we then can take with us into the other 5 independent exhibitions within the beautiful period setting of The Farnham Pottery. Downstairs the focus is on colour work and Jacqui is joined by the very gifted Miriam Winsor who uses painterly portraits to investigate the psychological delicacy of the human condition. While 13-year-old Luke Whatley-Bigg, whose work has won him a scholarship and much accolade, delights us with his magnificent landscape images taken using drones. Upstairs we turn to the pure monochrome of Black and White and take a journey through techniques from pin-whole landscape photography from the locally celebrated environmental artist Angela Shaw, through to Michael Green’s moving, personal documentary style film photography, taken on his world travels as a camera technician in the film industry for the last thirty years. From dark room to high tech, we finish with the stylish flare of Hugh Rawson’s striking street photography.
Do join us for drinks at the Opening on Friday Night 6 – 8pm. All the artists will be present and in the second half of the evening will each give a short presentation on their work. This is an exhibition for everyone and all ages, bring the family, because whether already an enthusiast of photography or not, you may well find yourself leaving as one. www.thefarnhampottery.co.uk

The Light and The Air Paintings by Tom Benjamin

Tom Benjamin – Light in the Landscape

This magical artist takes us to the heart of the landscape with his breath-taking paintings, capturing both the scale and awe of nature. Based in Lewis, Tom is a celebrated landscape painter who faces all elements of the British climate in the creation of his work, this immediacy sparkles in the life of his brushstrokes. Don’t miss his exhibition at the Kiln Room Gallery, The Farnham Pottery, on until the 4th November or the chance to be inspired by his talk, given at 6pm on Saturday 28th October along with the opportunity to view the exhibition with the artist present and ask any questions of him. Tom’s courses are always packed out at West Dean College, but we have a few places left on our 2 day workshop this coming weekend of the 28 & 29 October, so please get in touch immediately if you are interested. https://vimeo.com/87812485?ref=em-share
