In this case at NCI Wells, it's the Lucey Lavers lifeboat - a Dunkirk little ship veteran, who helped in the evacuation along with 17 other RNLI lifeboats. You can book a trip on this lovely old lady from Wells Harbour.

Our volunteer coastguards help to keep us safe at the coast around-the-clock. Theyโ€™ll leave their families at a moment's notice to make sure you can get home safe to yours: the ultimate #RandomActOfKindness. #RandomActsOfKindnessDay

If you could do anything in return for their unwavering sacrifice and kindness, it would be one thing: donโ€™t take unnecessary risks at the coast.

Think twice before getting too close to big waves to capture a dramatic Insta storm story or hanging your life in the balance for a perfect cliff side selfie.

Because when you take risks and the worst happens, itโ€™s not just you and your family impacted by the consequences, but our coastguards, their families and our wider search and rescue family too.

Accidents can happen to anyone and even the most experienced can get caught out. This winter we have been asking everyone to stay well back, take a phone, check tide times, call 999 Coastguard in an emergency: all so you can make it home.

Weโ€™ll always come to help those in trouble but help us help you. If youโ€™re looking for a random act of kindness today and every day, and you're lucky enough to live by the coast for your daily exercise, #BeCoastSafe, follow safety advice and donโ€™t take unnecessary risks this #HalfTerm.

Seemingly insignificant moments or actions can be the ultimate kindness. Share the word. Spread the kindness.

RNLI Cromer

Following our story of the 'Fernebo' rescue, Jacqui Palmer of the Henry Blogg Museum has sent an update of the fate of the lifeboat 'Louisa Heartwell'.
On 9 January 1917, the lifeboat Louisa Heartwell undertook two rescues in 14 hours. The Cromer crew pushed themselves and their vessel to their limits that day with only sail and oars to power the open boat through the gale tossed sea. Eventually they succeeded in saving 16 men from the Pyrin and 11 from the Fernebo. Now this historic lifeboat has returned to the RNLI.

She currently sits at the All-weather Lifeboat Centre, Poole in storage until a permanent โ€˜berthโ€™ is available at the historic lifeboat collection in Chatham, Kent. The lifeboat will then undergo significant conservation before joining the museum display.

The Louisa Heartwell is one of only 7 surviving pulling-sailing Liverpool class lifeboats out of a build class of 40 โ€“ and she is an early-mid build one (1902), the earliest extant with the exception of Chapman (1901). She served at Cromer 1902-31 saving 195 lives.
