This should be good if you are looking for tips on how to better manage your digital assets. Delighted that Jim Dunn has been added to the panel - Jim brings knowledge of working with a comprehensive DAMS through his work with Glasgow Museums, but also through his freelance work with smaller museums, he understands what they need and how you can set up your own system when you don't have an IT department to support you.

🏛️Digital Asset Management in Heritage

Wednesday 20th November | 2pm - 3pm

Are your digital assets growing? Is the team who needs to access them growing? Whether it is a growing inventory of digitised archives and objects or social media assets, or both, how you manage those can impact the smooth operations of your museum and heritage organisation.

Talking Objects is back on Thursday 31st October, 2PM-3PM in the Library Lounge, with Sugar Cravings & Colonalisation

The session will explore how museums approach the decolonisation of collections by recognising the integral role of empire in museums - from their creation to the present day. Decolonisation requires a reappraisal of our institutions and their history and an effort to address colonial structures and approaches to all areas of museum work.

We were delighted to play a leading role in making this idea a reality! And look forward to sharing the results on our Museum of the Highlands digital learning hub in the near future.

Exciting news! A cutting-edge 3D scanning project has just been completed, digitally capturing historical objects from museums across the Highlands. From a Mesolithic harpoon to the Ballachulish Goddess, these artefacts will be transformed into detailed digital models.

These 3D scans will be featured in the People Room, within Inverness Castle’s South Tower Experience, allowing visitors to explore Highland history in a whole new way—digitally!

It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with the past and inspire visits to the museums where these treasures are housed.

This miniature play set is one of our favourite tiny treasures in the museum. It belonged to Bonnie Prince Charlie's mother, the Polish Princess Clementina Sobieski. It contains tiny toys made of silver-gilt and makes a table setting. The princess would have played with it when she was a wee girl.
