The Iron Curtain Museum. A History of Life during the Cold War A history of the east and west during the Cold War. Lessons learned lessons not learned. I am building a cold war museum. to 1992 when the Berlin wall came down.

it is to document and report on the period from 1946 Winston Churchill's speech at Fulton Missouri on the 5th March. Plus I plan to look at the way Russia has developed since the fall and how it is slowly getting itself back to being a world power.

Ok so it’s home. It was only 12 miles away, running sweet. Gear change crash box just starting to get hang of it. Get on the a339 just 11 miles to go and duuuuhhh. Shoe bogs down. Fuel blockage do I try to fix or fight it back. 11 miles surely she can make it. She did right to the gate in the meantime I lost 2 nd and 5 th but at 5 mph it didn’t matter all we were doing was building a traffics jam. I stopped when I could then it took at least 5 minutes to get going again. No one lets you in. Then at the gate it died. No batteries. They had failed. So we used our daf 6 wheeler and she was pulled back in. Given her a jet wash and she is already starting to look loved.

As the museum develops it has many years of artefacts to display. We don’t yet have enough space but we will. We will grow. Time will show every year it gets bigger and better. This year if we have a coffee shop and food that’s a bonus. We should be able to open the indoor displays next year. And put more under canvas for winter to protect them. Winter kills them all.

We have a steadily building crew of volunteers. These people will become the life blood of the museum. My boys and I can only do so much.

But as we own the majority of our gear it gives us a much greater chance of survival. The museum doesn’t need to make money but ideally some money that can buy and build more displays is essential. This year has started really well already.

And much has been achieved.

So please bear with us as the collection slowly turns into a fully functioning museum.

What is that?
